Join the ServerFelicia and Seraphina stood in silence, facing each other. After a long while, Felicia finally broke the quiet.
“I mean, what if I said I just forgot about this? Would you believe me?”
“I would,” Seraphina replied.
Felicia didn’t press further. She simply studied Seraphina’s expression, trying to glean something from it.
But Seraphina’s face was a mask. No matter how hard Felicia looked, she couldn’t tell what Seraphina was feeling, or whether she truly believed her words.
“Come back inside with me.”
“I want to stay outside for a while.”
“Oh?” Seraphina’s eyes narrowed.
Felicia felt that familiar sting again. It wasn’t agonizing, but it made her whole body tremble.
“Fine…” Felicia lowered her head slightly, acquiescing.
“That’s better.” Seraphina took Felicia’s hand and led her back to the room she had prepared for Felicia long ago.
The room looked exactly as it had before Felicia left. It was clear Seraphina had taken great care to maintain it.
But although the room remained unchanged, perhaps their relationship had shifted.
Or maybe it had never changed at all.
“Do you know what you did wrong?” Seraphina asked suddenly.
Felicia stood still, head bowed, offering no reply.
“Playing dead won’t work.” Seraphina activated the magic on the handcuffs once more.
What did it feel like to have lightning coursing through one’s entire body?
Felicia had experienced it, but she couldn’t describe it. All she knew was the excruciating pain, the sensation of being torn apart, as if the agony would consume her entirely.
“I…” Felicia couldn’t even force out a single word under that torment.
Seeing that Felicia was trying to speak, Seraphina ceased the magic, granting Felicia a temporary respite.
“I… I did nothing wrong! I was pursuing freedom—what crime is that? Are you saying I should stay here forever, with someone like you, just to be right?”
“It’s like buying a catgirl on the street. Once I bring her home, she belongs to me.” Instead of electrocuting Felicia again, Seraphina began to reason with her.
Though her reasoning was rather diabolical.
“Who sells catgirls on the street anyway! Besides, I’m not a catgirl…” Felicia’s voice dropped a few notches.
“They do, in certain parts of Celestial Star City…” Seraphina cut herself off mid-sentence.
It left Felicia’s curiosity prickling.
She could guess, of course, but hearing it from someone else always carried more impact.
“And who said you were a catgirl? I simply said you and the catgirl in my example are equivalent—both are merely my possessions.”
“You’re just a pet.”
“……”
Seraphina’s answer didn’t surprise Felicia. In fact, Felicia had always known Seraphina saw her that way. It was just that, at first, Seraphina had been gentle—now she was… this.
That was why Felicia had always wanted to escape. This place had everything except freedom, and she would never love someone like Seraphina.
As far as Felicia was concerned, this version of Seraphina was her second phase.
“But… I…” Felicia wanted to say more, but the words died in her throat.
“No buts. You need to understand your place.” Seraphina sat on the bed. “Now, come here.”
Felicia didn’t move. She remained rooted to the spot.
“Come here.” Seraphina repeated.
“No…” Felicia’s voice was so faint that even Seraphina couldn’t make it out.
“Hm? What did you say?”
“I said, I’m not coming!” Felicia suddenly shouted. “Aren’t you so powerful? Then punish me! Shock me again! Go ahead!”
With that, Felicia closed her eyes and lifted her chin, as if certain Seraphina would fly into a rage and electrocute her mercilessly.
But one second passed, then two… Felicia never felt that familiar sting.
She opened her eyes to see what was happening—only to find Seraphina standing right in front of her.
Felicia couldn’t help but step back.
The more Felicia retreated, the more Seraphina advanced, until Felicia’s back met the wall, with nowhere left to go.
Seraphina placed a hand on Felicia’s shoulder, pinning her in place.
Seraphina’s grip was strong, sending a sharp pain through Felicia’s shoulder. Yet compared to the agony of lightning coursing through her entire body, this was nothing.
“What… what are you going to do?”
If Seraphina had punished her with the handcuffs’ lightning magic, Felicia wouldn’t have been so afraid—she’d endured it many times, after all. It hurt, but she knew what to expect.
But the unknown was often the most terrifying. Felicia had no idea what methods Seraphina might employ next.
“You were so brave just now. Why so scared now?” Seraphina chuckled.
“…Do what you want. Kill me or flay me, it’s up to you.” Felicia turned her head away.
Her body instinctively feared Seraphina, but her mouth remained stubborn.
In short, she had a death wish.
Seraphina grabbed Felicia’s dragon tail and began to toy with it.
But a dragon girl’s tail wasn’t like that of a beast girl. Felicia felt nothing special as Seraphina played with it.
Still, Felicia sensed something ominous in Seraphina’s intentions.
Perhaps her suspicion was correct, for golden lightning began to flicker around Seraphina’s hand. At the same time, Felicia felt something forcing its way into her body, prying her open.
It was Seraphina’s mana.
As everyone knew, everyone’s mana was unique. When another’s mana entered one’s body, it often triggered rejection.
And Felicia’s rejection of Seraphina’s mana was especially strong.
Coupled with the stimulation of lightning, what would happen?
Felicia found out soon enough.
“Aaahhh?!” A current-like sensation shot from the base of her tail straight to the crown of her head.
Pain mixed with another feeling shattered Felicia’s stubborn defiance.
“Ngh…” Felicia desperately covered her mouth, her toes curling tightly inside her white silk socks, struggling to keep any strange sounds from escaping.
In response to Felicia’s futile resistance, Seraphina simply increased her mana output.
Instantly, Felicia’s mind felt like it had exploded. Unable to withstand such intense stimulation, she fainted on the spot.
But even unconscious, Felicia’s body trembled uncontrollably in Seraphina’s arms.
“Why endure to this point? See? In the end, nothing changed.” Seraphina gently patted the silver-haired girl’s delicate frame.
She did nothing further. She simply held Felicia and drifted into a deep sleep.
