Chapter 4: A Bland Meal and a Grand Escape Plan

Seraphina sat by the bed, holding a bowl of warm porridge. She scooped a spoonful with a small spoon, gently blew on it until it cooled slightly, then brought it to Felicia’s lips.

Felicia subtly lifted her gaze, obediently opening her mouth to swallow. Her throat bobbed almost imperceptibly.

If one were to disregard Seraphina’s current status as Felicia’s master, this scene would appear quite heartwarming.

Suddenly, Felicia frowned.

“What’s wrong?” Seraphina inquired.

“This porridge is a little bland… did you forget the salt?” Felicia gestured towards the bowl in Seraphina’s hand.

Seraphina had expected Felicia to bring up something serious, not such a trivial matter.

“I have some matters to attend to. Stay here on your own. And next time, I’ll remember the salt.”

With that, Seraphina departed swiftly, leaving Felicia alone in the room once more.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Seraphina still hadn’t returned. Yet, Felicia discovered that her body had completely recovered!

Felicia got out of bed, throwing two powerful punches that stirred the air. Her body felt robust and strong.

‘Is this a characteristic of the Dragon race?’

Felicia had learned from the inherited Dragon Emperor’s Authority that a major trait of dragons was their incredibly powerful vitality, which translated into exceptional regenerative abilities.

Since Seraphina wasn’t here, there was a significant possibility of success if Felicia were to seize this moment to escape.

However, she was unfamiliar with her surroundings. Getting lost would be disastrous.

Therefore, Felicia’s first task was to familiarize herself with the environment.

Without further ado, Felicia pushed open the room door.

The first thing she saw was a spacious marble corridor, adorned with a red carpet. It stretched out before her, grand and inviting.

‘Is her home really this enormous?’

Aside from her initial transmigration into a small forest, Felicia had spent all her time confined to the room. This was her first venture outside.

As Felicia walked along the expansive corridor, she marveled at the oil paintings displayed on both sides of the walls. She felt like an awestruck visitor entering a grand estate for the first time.

Considering Seraphina’s earlier remarks, Felicia surmised that Seraphina must be of noble birth, and certainly not from a minor house.

‘The difficulty of escaping has increased significantly.’

Such a massive castle clearly couldn’t be inhabited by Seraphina alone.

Indeed, as if on cue, not long after Felicia emerged, she encountered a maid dressed in a black and white uniform.

While the maid’s beauty couldn’t compare to Seraphina’s or Felicia’s, she would undoubtedly be considered a top-tier beauty in the outside world.

Felicia’s first thought was, ‘Seraphina certainly knows how to live well.’

Her second thought was that once she made a name for herself, she would also acquire a massive castle and gather a host of beautiful girls to serve as her maids.

The mere thought filled her with excitement.

Of course, all of this depended on her escaping first.

While Felicia’s mind wandered, the maid had already approached her.

“Good afternoon, Miss Felicia.” The maid bowed respectfully, her hands clasped before her abdomen, her head slightly lowered.

“My name is Anna. As you can see, I am Master Seraphina’s servant, and now, I am yours as well.”

“Um… Miss Anna, hello?” Felicia wasn’t sure how to respond, so she simply waved her hand at Anna as a greeting.

“Master believed you might emerge from your room, so she instructed me to meet you here. The castle is quite large, and it’s easy to get lost if you wander alone,” Anna added.

Felicia didn’t believe Seraphina would be so benevolent. Anna was most likely here to keep an eye on her.

“Actually, I have a habit of preferring to wander alone. If you’re worried about me getting lost, why not give me a map or something?” Felicia blinked.

“Please forgive me, but I cannot do that. Master said that protecting you is my duty,” Anna replied, shaking her head.

Seeing her plan foiled, Felicia showed no emotional fluctuation. She had merely tried; success would have been delightful, but failure was inconsequential.

“In that case, Anna, please take me for a stroll then.”

‘It would be good to understand the castle’s layout,’ Felicia thought.

“Please follow me.”

Anna led Felicia through the immense castle, her steps unhurried, always maintaining half a pace behind Felicia. This posture was neither aloof nor overly familiar, striking a balance of respectful distance.

Every few steps, a window let in warm, golden sunlight, illuminating the patterns on the carpet.

As they passed one particular window, Felicia noticed a garden outside, filled with flowers of every color. Several gardeners moved about, diligently tending to the blooms.

Anna, seeing Felicia engrossed in the view, did not disturb her, simply standing respectfully by her side.

After a while, Felicia regained her composure and asked Anna, “Anna… can you take me outside to see it?”

“Master said that if Miss Felicia’s conduct improves in the future, you may be permitted to go outside. For now, however, it is not allowed,” Anna replied.

“Alright.” Felicia seemed a little disappointed.

Despite its grandeur, Felicia perceived the castle as nothing more than a cage. The beautiful garden outside only strengthened her resolve to escape.

As for taking action… she would wait a few days. Haste makes waste.

Gradually, afternoon transitioned into evening.

This castle was truly vast, and with Anna explaining each significant area they passed, such as the library, Felicia didn’t finish her tour until nightfall.

Felicia also learned from Anna that Seraphina’s bedroom was far from here. This meant that, barring any unusual circumstances, Felicia would be the only one in this room at night.

‘Doesn’t that mean I can leave whenever I want?’

Felicia thought this was quite a good arrangement.

Just as Felicia was lost in her own thoughts, the door opened. It was clearly Seraphina who had entered from outside.

“You, you, you, why are you here again?” Felicia was surprised. Hadn’t Seraphina’s bedroom been elsewhere? All her nascent plans were about to be stillborn.

“What, you don’t like me?” Seraphina asked with a smile.

“Aren’t you asking the obvious?” Felicia rolled her eyes. Felicia felt she could never like a pervert like Seraphina in this lifetime, unless she went mad herself.

“Oh, little dragon, it’s not right to dislike your master so much. By rights, I should punish you.”

“Pun-punishment?!”

Felicia involuntarily recalled the events of the previous night, trembling with fear. She had no desire to experience that sensation a second time.

“Such a coward, look how scared you are.” Seraphina couldn’t help but laugh at Felicia’s shaking form.

“Don’t worry. As long as you don’t do anything that would anger me—like trying to escape—I won’t punish you arbitrarily.”

“Oh, oh.” Felicia nodded.

But in her heart, she was already planning her escape. Of course, she couldn’t let Seraphina catch her, otherwise, what might happen was anyone’s guess.
