Join the ServerAfter Seraphina escorted Felicia back to the room, she departed, leaving Felicia alone within its confines.
“Ahhhhhhh! What was I even thinking just now!”
Only after confirming Seraphina was well out of earshot did Felicia dare to collapse onto the bed. She buried her face in a pillow, letting out a muffled scream.
Her tail, trailing behind her, seemed to sense its owner’s turbulent emotions, thrashing wildly from side to side.
The mere recollection of her recent thoughts filled Felicia with an overwhelming sense of shame.
“I’m exhausted,” she muttered, her eyes vacant. “Let this world just be destroyed.” Having vented, Felicia found herself unable to entertain a single thought beyond the desire to obliterate everything.
Another entry was added to Felicia’s growing list of embarrassing memories.
After a while, the listless Felicia rose to her feet. She lightly slapped her cheeks, willing herself to stay awake.
Felicia had no desire to read at the moment, and with Seraphina gone, she found herself with nothing to do. Was she simply to stare blankly into space?
“Hmm… I suppose I’ll go out and explore first,” Felicia mused.
With that, Felicia stepped out of the room.
The moment she crossed the threshold, she felt a presence behind her.
Yet, when Felicia turned around, she found no one there.
‘Was it just my imagination?’
“Perhaps it really was a delusion… I’ll ignore it.” Felicia pinched her own pale, tender thigh.
“Hiss~” The sharp pain from her leg jolted Felicia back to full awareness.
Felicia continuously reminded herself that everything she’d just experienced was merely an illusion. Brainwashing herself with this thought, she continued walking forward.
If she remembered correctly, she would be able to exit the area after walking a bit further.
Indeed, Felicia could now see the main door in the distance.
Suddenly, the lights in the corridor began to flicker erratically, casting an eerie, terrifying ambiance.
“C-c-c-could it be haunted…?” Felicia’s legs began to tremble uncontrollably.
Before she transmigrated, Felicia had always enjoyed reading supernatural novels and watching horror films. While watching, she found them thrilling, but afterward, she would cower in her blankets, terrified.
Over time, Felicia had developed a profound fear of ghosts.
However, Felicia quickly reconsidered. This was a world of magic; even if ghosts existed, they would likely be spirits or specters that could be vanquished.
If they could be vanquished, then logically, there was no reason to be afraid.
“No reason to be afraid, my foot… I’m practically dying of fright right now…”
‘This place shouldn’t be haunted, right?’
Felicia advanced slowly, her pace unhurried. One reason for her slowness was her overwhelming fear.
The second reason, however, was that her legs were trembling so violently she couldn’t even walk faster if she wanted to.
Suddenly, amidst the flickering lights, she thought she saw a shadowy figure…
“If you have grievances or grudges, don’t come for me, big brother!” Felicia spun around and fled.
However, she hadn’t run more than a few steps before she felt something behind her yank her back.
Looking up, she saw it was Seraphina.
‘Oh, it’s Seraphina,’ was Felicia’s initial thought, finding nothing amiss with this observation.
Yet, a sudden realization struck Felicia: Seraphina had said she was going to eat.
So, what was happening now?
“N-no, it couldn’t be a ghost disguised as Seraphina, could it…?” Felicia’s entire body trembled as she whispered to herself.
She dared not move a muscle, fearing that any movement would lead to possession or her untimely demise.
After all, in the various novels and movies she had consumed, ghosts typically operated in such a manner.
Seraphina seemed to judge the atmosphere sufficiently tense. She snapped her fingers, and the room’s lights returned to normal.
“Alright, I was just teasing you. Look at how scared you got.” Seraphina patted Felicia’s head.
“Ugh…” Felicia heard her words, and it took her a moment to fully register them.
It had all been Seraphina scaring her… This realization brought Felicia considerable relief. She had genuinely believed there was a ghost and had truly been on the verge of dying from fright.
At the same time, a hint of regret welled up in Felicia’s heart. Why hadn’t she realized it was Seraphina’s prank earlier?
“I don’t find this amusing at all.” Felicia adopted a stern expression, though it merely made her look like a little girl throwing a tantrum.
“Pfft~ That expression doesn’t suit you.” Seraphina reached out and pinched Felicia’s cheek.
“You rogue, don’t you dare pinch my face!” Felicia swatted Seraphina’s hand away.
It was clear that Felicia was genuinely angry now, or as she would have put it, “redlining.”
“By the way, why are you here? Weren’t you going to eat?” Felicia inquired.
“Because…” Seraphina began, building suspense before continuing, “I’ve been watching all your reactions ever since you lay down on the bed.”
“I found it quite entertaining, which is why I stopped here and didn’t go to eat.”
“Oh… Eh, eh, eh?!” Felicia nodded, then suddenly reacted.
‘She’s been watching me this whole time?’
‘Doesn’t that mean all my reactions were seen by Seraphina?!’
Instantly, Felicia’s cheeks flushed crimson, a mix of anger and embarrassment, or perhaps both. Seraphina even vaguely perceived tendrils of white steam rising from the crown of Felicia’s head.
In that moment, Felicia was on the verge of transforming into a literal ‘steam princess.’
“Oh, my, the little one has quite the reaction, doesn’t she?” Seraphina was somewhat surprised by Felicia’s current response.
She had anticipated Felicia’s reaction wouldn’t be so dramatic. It seemed she had misjudged.
“I’m a little tired. I’m going back to sleep.” Felicia turned, intending to retreat to her bed. She feared that if she stayed here any longer, something else unpleasant would occur.
She had initially only considered Seraphina a pervert, but now she deemed Seraphina an utterly malicious pervert.
“Don’t go. How about you come out with me for a bit?” Seraphina grasped Felicia’s hand.
Felicia tugged, finding she couldn’t break free from Seraphina’s grip, and reluctantly halted her steps.
“If you don’t say anything, I’ll take that as a ‘yes,'” Seraphina added.
“I don’t think I have any room to refuse,” Felicia retorted, rolling her eyes.
“Don’t say that. If you sincerely beg me, perhaps I can let you go back to sleep?” Seraphina winked at Felicia.
“Really?” Felicia instinctively asked.
“Truer than pearls,” Seraphina replied.
“Hmm…” Felicia pondered, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. The incessant thumping of her dragon tail against the ground mirrored her internal conflict.
“Alright, let’s go out and see, then.”
She wasn’t sure why she had suddenly agreed, when she should have refused. She would simply attribute it to a whim.
“Oh?” A glint of delight flashed in Seraphina’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Felicia’s answer to be this.
In Seraphina’s estimations, Felicia was far more likely to decline her invitation.
“Then it’s settled. You’ll accompany me outside.”
“Oh, and don’t even think about running away. I’ll just drag you back.”
“Haha, how could I possibly think of running away?” Felicia casually replied.
“That’s for the best.”
