Chapter 24: A Day as a Personal Maid

“So, what exactly is the punishment?” Felicia couldn’t help but ask.

“Are you truly that eager, little one?”

“Who, who’s eager! I’m just curious, that’s all, just curious…” Felicia retorted loudly.

“Alright, alright, just curious, just curious,” Seraphina waved her hand.

“I was going to let you guess the punishment, but seeing how ea… *curious* you are, I’ll just tell you directly.”

“The punishment is quite simple: you’ll be my personal maid for the entire day.”

“Nothing strange or peculiar will happen, right?” Felicia inquired, a hint of apprehension in her voice.

She instinctively recalled an old saying: ‘When there’s work, the secretary does it; when there’s no work…’

Hmph, that was a topic best left unexplored, though those who understood, understood.

Given Felicia’s understanding of Seraphina, it was entirely plausible that Seraphina might actually subject her to such things.

“Perhaps?” Seraphina merely offered a vague response.

Felicia instantly tensed. If she were a cat, her fur would have surely bristled by now.

“Oh, I was just teasing. Why so nervous, little one? If I truly wanted to ‘act’ on you, wouldn’t I have just done it directly?”

Felicia opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Seraphina was absolutely right.

If Seraphina wanted to lay hands on Felicia, Felicia would either stand obediently, or be intimidated into standing obediently.

Resistance was utterly impossible, at least for now. She simply couldn’t win.

“Since the little one is now a maid, shouldn’t you do something a maid ought to do? How about calling me ‘Mistress’?”

Seraphina sat on the bed, looking up at Felicia.

“This…” Felicia hesitated slightly. The lingering vestiges of her modesty prevented her from uttering those two words.

“My patience has its limits. If I wait too long, I might do something… *outside the norm*, you know?” Seraphina warned.

“Mis… Mistress…” Felicia finally managed to say, though her voice was barely a whisper.

She felt utterly mortified, wishing only to find a hole to crawl into and hide.

“Your voice is a bit soft, but considering it’s your first time, I’ll grudgingly accept it,” Seraphina said. “Come with me.”

Seraphina rose, and Felicia obediently followed behind her.

On their way, they encountered Yunwu and Yunyu, who were preparing to gather supplies. Seeing Felicia dressed in a maid outfit, they were visibly astonished.

Watching the two walk away, Yunwu and Yunyu simultaneously pulled out their phones and began typing to each other.

– Yunwu: What’s going on today? Why is Miss Felicia wearing a maid outfit?

– Yunyu: Ah, big sister, you just don’t understand this.

– Yunwu: From that remark, it sounds like you understand quite well?

– Yunyu: Of course! Based on my extensive experience browsing certain websites, this is just a little ‘hobby’ between Lady Seraphina and Miss Felicia.

Yunwu glanced at Yunyu, surprised that such an outwardly innocent girl would be looking at *that* in secret.

“You’ve been looking at a lot, haven’t you?” Yunwu snatched Yunyu’s phone. “Phone confiscated. I’ll return it when I’m in a good mood.”

“No—” Yunyu’s heart shattered.

Felicia would never know that a young girl had lost her joy because of her.

Seraphina led Felicia to a room whose furnishings were rather sparse, consisting only of a window, a bookshelf, and a desk.

Several books were arranged on the shelf, but due to the distance, Felicia couldn’t discern their titles.

Seraphina settled into a chair, with Felicia standing beside her.

Ten minutes passed, and Seraphina made no move, leaving Felicia somewhat puzzled.

Another twenty minutes elapsed, yet Seraphina remained still.

Half an hour more went by, with no change in the situation.

“Am I really going to just stand here the whole time?” Felicia couldn’t help but ask.

“Huh?” Seraphina looked a little bewildered. “Oh, I was just spacing out. Let’s start working now.”

“Your task is to report on today’s headlines and such, continuing until lunchtime.”

“So, how do I do that?”

Seraphina paused, only then realizing that Felicia, not Anna, was currently serving as her maid.

“Snap your fingers, and a screen will appear. It will display recent global events. You can then use the remote to scroll up and down and simply read from it,” Seraphina explained.

Felicia thought Seraphina was incredibly lazy, needing help even with this. Perhaps it was just a habit of those in high positions.

Nevertheless, she followed Seraphina’s instructions and began reading the first news item.

“Yesterday at noon, the Abyss located in the center of the Continent of Revelation once again erupted, spewing forth a massive number of Abyssal Beasts that annihilated dozens of small towns and one city. The situation has since been suppressed, with a Sovereign intervening to clear out over a hundred thousand Abyssal Beasts. Some say this is a prelude to the Demon Race’s impending return…”

“A Sovereign even made a move? This matter truly isn’t simple,” Seraphina commented. “But the Demon Race returning… The war ended less than a year ago. Even cockroaches aren’t that resilient.”

“What is a Sovereign?” Felicia asked, perplexed.

“You don’t know? Well, you were only recently born, so it’s understandable. I’ll just give you a quick overview.”

Thus, Seraphina began to enlighten Felicia.

In this world, magic had almost become an instinct; as long as one could breathe, they could wield magic. The only differences between people lay in the types of magic they could perform, as well as the intensity and quantity of their magical power.

On the Continent of Revelation, strength was categorized into eight tiers: Sky, Feather, Dusk, Joy, Mourn, Overlord, Demigod, and Deity. Deity-tier beings were also known as Gods. There were only six Gods in this world, each capable of overturning existence itself.

Demigods and Overlords were collectively referred to as Sovereigns. Sovereigns represented the strongest combatants in this world, second only to the Gods, and each possessed unparalleled power.

Felicia absorbed this information, simultaneously wondering where Seraphina fit into these ranks. However, she secretly believed Seraphina wouldn’t be very strong.

“Alright, continue reading,” Seraphina gestured towards the screen.

Felicia nodded.

“Large quantities of Starfire Grass have been discovered around Cloud City. Due to the numerous uses of Starfire Grass, many people have been drawn to Cloud City, leading to its rapid economic development…”

“Cloud City? Doesn’t ring a bell. Next, next,” Seraphina waved her hand dismissively.

“Finished. How do you feel?” Seraphina inquired.

“Parched, and my legs are incredibly sore. I feel like my body isn’t my own anymore…” Felicia answered truthfully.

“That’s all it takes to break you? You’re far too weak.”

Felicia’s expression fractured for a moment, but she quickly recovered, offering a very strained smile.

If she could, she would have pinned Seraphina to the ground and given her a good beating, but alas, she was incapable.
