“Eat and then sleep, are you a pig?” Seraphina raised her hand and tapped Felicia on the head.
“Mmm…” Felicia rubbed the spot Seraphina had hit. It hurt a little. “Then what should we do?”
“I’m warning you, don’t even think about *that* kind of thing! No hanky-panky!” Felicia took a step back, crossing her arms in front of her chest to form an ‘X’.
“What kind of person do you take me for… Though I guess I’m not exactly proper most of the time?” Seraphina was about to retort, but then she recalled her usual behavior—and her actions just now.
She really wasn’t a very proper person, was she?
“How about I just commit to being improper all the way, then? After all, this is my turf. You can scream all you want, but no one’s coming to help you, hehehe~” Seraphina rubbed her hands together and advanced toward Felicia.
“Help!!!” Felicia took a deep breath and let out a loud yell.
“?” At that moment, Yunyu happened to pass by.
Before she could react, her older sister Yunwu dragged her away.
Well, now there was absolutely no one else around except the two of them.
Just when Felicia thought the outcome was sealed, Seraphina suddenly stopped.
“So? Wasn’t that fun?” Seraphina asked.
“Where’s the fun in that…” As the one being teased, Felicia found Seraphina’s behavior utterly unfunny.
“Follow me. I’ll take you to a nice place.” Seraphina strode out of the castle.
“Hey, hey, you’re walking too fast! Wait for me!” Felicia scrambled her short legs as fast as she could, barely keeping up with Seraphina.
The two walked out of the castle and into the forest beyond. They walked for what seemed like an age before Seraphina finally stopped.
Felicia followed her to the spot and began to look around.
Before them lay a small pond, surrounded by ancient trees. The water was crystal clear, revealing the bottom, and the banks were lush with plants.
Suddenly, a breeze stirred, rippling the surface of the pond and reflecting the swaying shadows of the trees.
There was no noise here—only the soft sounds of nature. It was so quiet you could almost hear your own heartbeat.
“Where is this?”
“A place I stumbled upon once,” Seraphina replied. “When I stay here, I feel a sense of peace, as if I don’t need to think about anything.”
Seraphina pulled out two training blades. She kept one for herself and tossed the other to Felicia.
Felicia barely caught the longsword. She still remembered the last time she had used it, back in the castle’s training hall.
“So we’re training outdoors this time?” Felicia asked, puzzled.
“Yes,” Seraphina answered.
“But… why?” Felicia couldn’t find a reason for Seraphina to do this.
“Why… Because training alone is boring, I guess.” Seraphina paused for a moment before speaking slowly.
Then, Seraphina set up a barrier that suppressed their strength, bringing both of them down to the Celestial rank.
“Hey, hey, wait a minute! Hold on!” Felicia shouted as she saw Seraphina raise her blade and prepare to charge.
“Hm?” Seraphina stopped.
“Um… could you please lift the suppression? It feels a bit uncomfortable…” Felicia said weakly.
“It’s just training. Besides, I’m suppressed too,” Seraphina replied.
“Fine, then… En garde!” Felicia took the opportunity to strike.
But Seraphina easily dodged.
“A bit sneaky, aren’t you?” Seraphina said.
“No, no—this is called tactics!” Felicia shook her head.
“Then let’s call it tactics.”
With that, Seraphina suddenly accelerated, her training blade about to land on Felicia.
Felicia instinctively raised her sword to block, but she was still knocked back several steps.
Before she could recover, Seraphina’s next attack came in quick succession.
This time, Felicia failed to parry, and her blade was sent flying by Seraphina’s strike.
The training sword arced through the air before splashing into the water.
“Well…” Seraphina looked a bit surprised.
“What do we do now?”
“I anticipated this, so I brought plenty of spares.” Seraphina tossed another training sword to Felicia. “You can’t lose focus this time, or there will be consequences, okay?”
“Will I get a reward if I win?”
“We’ll talk about that after you win.”
Seraphina thrust her longsword straight at Felicia. Prepared this time, Felicia sidestepped and swung the flat of her blade toward Seraphina’s waist.
If it were a real enemy, Felicia would have used the edge to cleave them in two. But this was just a spar, and such moves weren’t necessary.
Besides, the training blades weren’t even sharpened; they wouldn’t leave a wound. A slap with the flat was more effective than a cut.
Yet Seraphina seemed to anticipate this. She tossed the sword from her right hand to her left and raised it to block.
The moment the block connected, Seraphina retreated rapidly, creating distance.
“Good chance—take this!” Felicia pressed forward, the tip of her blade aimed at Seraphina’s vital spot.
Normally, under training rules, if her blade point reached Seraphina’s vital point, she would win.
Seraphina ducked under Felicia’s attack, then grabbed Felicia’s right hand—the one holding the sword—and squeezed hard.
Felicia winced in pain, nearly losing her grip.
Seraphina tossed the blade back to her right hand and then gave Felicia a slap on the rear.
A sharp *smack* echoed.
“You, you, you—where are you slapping?!” Felicia forgot all about the sword. She backed away, covering the spot.
“Ehehe~” Seraphina blinked.
“Blinking cutely won’t save you now! Take this!” Felicia regained her footing and charged with a straight slash, her steps swift.
“Your footwork is still a bit slow. You can move faster.” Seraphina leaped lightly to dodge Felicia’s attack and thrust her sword in return.
…
“I’m done. No more.” Felicia crouched on the ground, tossing her training sword aside.
They had sparred for over three hours, and Felicia hadn’t managed to touch Seraphina even once. She had been “eliminated” over a dozen times.
In other words, if this were a fight to the death, Felicia would have died over a dozen times without even gracing Seraphina’s sleeve.
“Don’t be too discouraged. I forged my skills through hellish training myself,” Seraphina said suddenly. “You have good talent. In the last bout, your swordsmanship improved noticeably.”
“Really?” Felicia looked up, meeting Seraphina’s gaze.
“Of course.” Seraphina nodded.
She might have said it partly to comfort Felicia, but it was also her genuine opinion.
“Thirsty? Want some water?” Seraphina offered a bottle.
“Isn’t it bad to drink right after intense exercise?”
“What’s the harm? Just recover your strength. The stronger you are, the faster you recover.”
Seraphina snapped her fingers, and Felicia found her strength restored to the Dusk rank.
“If you could restore me from the start, why did you wait until now?!” Felicia complained while taking small sips of water.
“Because it was fun. Ehehe.”
“You jerk!”
