Felicia was roused by the sounds of battle outside. She pushed open her door, stepping out to investigate, and in that very instant, her eyes fell upon a familiar figure.
Indeed, it was Seraphina.
“No, this can’t be right. I must still be half-asleep, seeing things,” Felicia murmured, trying to hypnotize herself. “Yes, that’s definitely it!”
Having successfully convinced herself, Felicia retreated into her room. Yet, when she pushed open the door once more, the same figure still stood there.
“This… this isn’t right, is it? Can she really be that fast?” Felicia was utterly astonished by Seraphina’s speed.
What Felicia didn’t realize, however, was that if Seraphina truly wished to capture her, a single instant would suffice. There was no need for such prolonged maneuvering.
Nevertheless, this was not the time to waste a single moment.
Though Felicia had no idea why Seraphina was fighting the black-haired youth, she recognized this as a prime opportunity for escape.
‘How exactly should I escape?’ Felicia pondered this question.
Simply walking out was certainly not an option. The village’s buildings weren’t dense enough to conceal her movements.
Moreover, Seraphina and the youth had already taken their battle to the skies. If Felicia were to just walk straight out of the village, Seraphina would spot her with a single glance.
Thus, the method Felicia ultimately conceived was…
Digging! A! Tunnel!
“As the saying goes, if I dig fast enough, you won’t find me,” Felicia reasoned.
And that was precisely what she intended to do.
As for tools… Felicia could conjure ice blades, and naturally, she could also conjure ice tools for digging.
So, while the two combatants were engaged, Felicia began digging her tunnel. First, she pried open the floorboards, then excavated the soil, storing the removed earth in her personal space.
As she progressed, she carefully replaced the pried-open floorboards. From the outside, the room appeared entirely unchanged; only by stepping on it would one realize that the interior was now hollow.
She wondered who would be the ‘lucky’ one to step into that empty space.

“So, are you coming with us to Heavenstar City to join the Tribunal and get settled? The benefits and treatment are excellent,” Haikong stated. “A D-rank member’s salary is five thousand crystals per month, plus five insurances and one housing fund. If you die, your family will receive a substantial burial fee.”
“The benefits are pretty good, but I do have a question,” Yun Que remarked.
“What is it?”
“If I’m a lone wolf with no family, can I request that the burial fee be burned directly to the underworld for me?” Yun Que answered, half-joking and half-serious.
“I truly want to pry open your skull and see what kind of structure is inside… The things you say are utterly unlike what a normal human would utter,” Haikong retorted.
“Isn’t it just to lighten the mood?”
“Well, you certainly do lighten the mood. So, are you joining or not? If not, just continue to muddle through here.”
“Of course, I’m joining!” Yun Que replied without a moment’s hesitation. Even if it meant facing a mountain of blades and a sea of fire, she would charge right through.
After all, no problem was greater than poverty. If there was one, it was being both disabled and poor.
“Good, then let’s go,” Haikong said, turning to leave.
“Wait, wait a moment, I have something to do,” Yun Que didn’t immediately follow.
“What is it?”
“I still have some savings at home. I’m afraid some scoundrel might take it all while I’m gone.”
“How much money is it? You’re so anxious.”
“One thousand six hundred eighty-nine crystals.”
Haikong had likely never witnessed someone so agitated over such a small sum.
“Do as you wish. I won’t go with you, but I can wait. The boss is quite a patient person,” Haikong said, idly toying with the dagger in their hand.
“I’ll go with her,” Wumi stepped forward.
“Let’s go,” she glanced at Yun Que.
“Alright, alright!” Yun Que nodded, leading Wumi to her room.
“You… you normally live here?” Wumi looked at the dilapidated house, then at the disheveled Yun Que, and suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for her.
“Yes,” Yun Que replied. “Is there a problem?”
“No problem at all, no problem.”
“Let me look, I remember it was around…” Yun Que walked towards the bed.
Suddenly, her foot met empty air, and she tumbled directly into a pit.
“Hiss… Ouch, ouch, ouch! Isn’t this my house? Where did this pit come from?” Yun Que clutched her backside, wailing as she sat on the ground.
“Hmm?” Wumi followed, jumping down. She squatted, scooped up a handful of earth, and rubbed it between her fingers.
At the same time, she noticed that there wasn’t just one pit, but also a tunnel leading to an unknown destination.
“The soil is still damp, which means this tunnel was dug out not long ago,” Wumi concluded.
“Can someone really dig such a long tunnel in such a short time? They’d need a machine, wouldn’t they?” Yun Que’s voice was filled with astonishment.
“What’s so surprising about that? A powerful individual can shatter a city with a single blow. Digging a tunnel is a trivial matter.”
“It seems my imagination is limited… So, who dug this tunnel anyway? So inconsiderate! If I find out who, I’ll definitely demand compensation…” Yun Que mumbled softly.
Suddenly, a possibility struck her.
‘Could it be…’
Yun Que suspected Felicia might be responsible, but why would Felicia dig this tunnel? Unless Yun Que directly pursued and asked Felicia, but it was clear that Haikong and Wumi were eager to return to Heavenstar City, and she couldn’t stay behind to chase Felicia.

“Hooah~ Finally out!” Felicia emerged from underground, her clothes and dress covered in dust and mud.
One might have thought Felicia had battled a magical beast for eight hundred rounds in some remote mountain.
Felicia desperately wanted a bath, but alas, there was no place for one in this wilderness.
Even she didn’t know how long she had been digging the tunnel, only that by the time she emerged, Seraphina and the other person had finished their battle.
She also didn’t know if Seraphina had won the fight, or if the mysterious black-haired youth had emerged victorious.
Truthfully, Felicia had hoped the black-haired youth would win. That way, Seraphina would be injured and perhaps lack the strength to pursue her.
However, ideals were beautiful, and reality was stark.
Felicia had only taken two steps when she saw that familiar figure.
“No way…”
A cascade of lustrous black hair fell to her waist, and her crimson eyes were captivating.
The black-haired girl, who had appeared so suddenly, wore a black gown and held a longsword wreathed in golden lightning.
Though Felicia currently wished to comment on the questionable fashion choice of a black-haired girl in a black gown, she truly had no mind to dwell on such a trivial matter.
For standing before her, blocking her path, was the very person Felicia would rather die than encounter again: Seraphina.
