X
Under the clear, cloudless sky, a crackle of thunder suddenly rang out across the previously peaceful meadow.
Countless particles of dust were kicked up by the sudden lightning strike, billowing outward.
After a brief silence, a petite white figure suddenly darted out of the dust cloud on a broomstick, skimming low and fast across the grass.
On the meadow fifty paces away from this figure stood a quite beautiful blonde young woman.
Noticing the little one flying out of the lightning strike, she raised her wand, softly chanted a string of spells, and two seconds later, several fireballs materialized and sped toward the little one.
The little one dodged all the fireballs with a twisting and turning motion on her broomstick, narrowly escaping them. The fireballs finally landed on the grass not far behind her, instantly creating three mushroom clouds.
Seeing this scene, the blonde young woman also showed a smile of contentment.
However, the little one who had barely escaped the disaster complained relentlessly.
“Mom Rhynes! Am I really your biological daughter? Why are you hitting me so hard?”
Undoubtedly, the little one riding the broomstick to challenge Rhynes was little Charlotte.
An hour ago, she had finally managed to reconcile with Mom Rhynes, who had promised not to interfere with her magic studies anymore.
However, after that, when she asked Mom Rhynes to release Master Chloe so she could continue teaching her magic, Mom Rhynes mercilessly refused.
It seemed Mom Rhynes was highly displeased with the disloyal and rebellious disciple and had no intention of releasing her to breathe the free air outside.
Nevertheless, for little Charlotte’s sake, Mom Rhynes made a bargain with her.
If little Charlotte could defeat Mom Rhynes using magic, Mom Rhynes would release Master Chloe from the giant ice crystal.
To be honest, when little Charlotte learned she had to fight her own mother next, her eyes almost popped out of their sockets in shock.
She had been brutally beaten up by the big black bear, then brutally beaten up by Sister Shiro using magic, and now, to top it all off, she had to be brutally beaten up by her own mother using magic. Who could endure being assaulted like this repeatedly?
Even Sukuna would scream that he couldn’t take it!
When she heard she had to fight Mom Rhynes, little Charlotte even considered giving up. It really wasn’t worth risking her life to save Master Chloe, especially since the aura of her own mother was truly terrifying.
But she didn’t expect Mom Rhynes’s next words to instantly force her hand.
“Charlotte wouldn’t abandon her Master, would she! After all, you’re my most proud daughter!”
If she had actually given up right then, Mom Rhynes would have certainly worn an expression of deep disappointment.
“I can’t believe you’re such a coward, Charlotte. You don’t even dare to fight your own mother. What else do you dare to do?”
After saying that, Mom Rhynes might have locked her in a dark room and given her a thorough “re-education.”
That would be even worse.
Little Charlotte had no choice but to brace herself, accept Mom Rhynes’s PK invitation, and challenge the unfathomably powerful woman.
This was an absolutely impossible task.
She had only studied magic with Master Chloe for one year, and her magic duels with Master Chloe always ended in a crushing defeat.
And Mom Rhynes was Chloe’s Master, so she had to be a hundred times more powerful than Chloe.
If she couldn’t even defeat Master Chloe, how could she possibly defeat Mom Rhynes?
She wouldn’t be able to win even if she used cheats to set the damage multiplier to 1000%!
Things went exactly as little Charlotte had expected. From the very beginning of the fight, little Charlotte was completely suppressed by Master Rhynes.
Spells were thrown at little Charlotte’s face with crackling fury, as if they cost nothing.
If little Charlotte hadn’t prepared her magic broomstick beforehand, she might have been stir-fried by Mom Rhynes like chili peppers in a wok right at the start of the fight.
While she ran and ran, Mom Rhynes stood motionless like an artillery turret. A slight wave of her wand was enough to make little Charlotte sweat profusely and barely dare to take a breath.
Fortunately, little Charlotte’s extremely small size made it easy for her to evade Mom Rhynes’s magical bombardment.
But just as a horse can stumble, even humans have moments when they miss.
Before long, little Charlotte’s view was blocked by the dust. She failed to notice Mom Rhynes throw two more Fire Blasts at her face, and she was instantly fried to a crisp, smoking and collapsing onto the ground.
Fortunately, she didn’t lose consciousness. Using all her strength to raise her hand and press it to her chest, little Charlotte cast Holy Magic. She was instantly back to full health, climbed onto her broom, and continued to take the beating.
“Damn it! I can’t fight like this at all!”
While frantically evading Mom Rhynes’s magical barrage—which was as chaotic and overwhelming as Yuan Shao’s attack—little Charlotte racked her small brain for a countermeasure.
Mom Rhynes hadn’t used a powerful special-grade spell on her weak self like Sister Shiro had earlier.
But the effortless use of swarms of advanced spells still made little Charlotte feel incredibly difficult to deal with.
She couldn’t surpass Mom Rhynes in either the quality or quantity of magic.
In other words, if she relied only on magic, she had absolutely zero chance of winning.
To win, she would have to utilize abilities other than magic, such as…
As this thought came to her, the image of a red-haired girl suddenly flashed into little Charlotte’s mind.
Swordsmanship!
A witch, as a class specialized in long-range bombardment, had virtually non-existent close-combat defense and was easily shredded at point-blank range by assassin-type heroes.
Perhaps she could use this weakness to catch Mom Rhynes off guard!
But the question was, how could she get right up into Mom Rhynes’s face?
‘That’s not what I meant.’
Just as little Charlotte was pondering this, she suddenly noticed that due to Mom Rhynes’s continuous magical bombardment of the meadow, large clouds of dust were being stirred up before they could even dissipate.
Maybe she could use this dust to conceal her movements!
Thinking this, little Charlotte changed direction and rushed into the nearby cloud of dust.
Seeing little Charlotte suddenly change direction, Rhynes was slightly surprised, but she didn’t pay much attention, instead continuing to predict little Charlotte’s trajectory and launching a massive, wide-area bombardment of spells.
The dust that hadn’t fully dissipated grew even thicker after the continuous bombardment.
It seemed little Charlotte’s nimble movements had evaded the spells. Two seconds after Rhynes began her magical bombardment, two of little Charlotte’s own Ice Crystal attacks flew out of the dust cloud.
However, apparently due to the cover of the dust, the two Ice Crystal attacks only traveled ten paces from Rhynes before exploding.
Fine ice fragments scattered everywhere, quickly kicking up another large cloud of icy mist.
“Charlotte, put a little more power into it! Your Mom is right here!”
Rhynes teased her, half-jokingly, while waving her wand and shooting two ice spikes as a return gift.
However, little Charlotte, hidden in the mist, made no response. Not only that, but the sound of her broomstick flying was also suppressed to a barely audible level.
“Hmm?” Rhynes felt a wave of confusion, but soon after, she suddenly sensed a powerful magical signature coming from not far to her right.
That direction was exactly where little Charlotte had thrown her Ice Crystal attacks, and a large cloud of icy mist now covered the area.
Before Rhynes could even react, little Charlotte’s figure burst out of the icy mist.
She was standing on the broomstick, like a celestial master flying on a sword, wielding a long, thick ice sword, and charging forcefully toward Rhynes.
“Sword Skill—Heaven-Soaring Dragon Slash!”
