The secret base where Qin Shion was located was in the building right next to the abandoned factory, and it didn’t take Charlotte long to reach its entrance.
“Bang!”
After kicking the door open, Charlotte said, “Sorry to intrude,” as she unceremoniously walked into the living room.
Looking at the empty living room where only a computer with four screens displaying ten surveillance feeds was still running, Charlotte subconsciously scratched the back of her head.
“Hmm? Where is she? Did she run that fast?”
Charlotte pricked up her ears and listened intently for any movement, but she didn’t hear any sound from Qin Shion, not even the sound of breathing.
Either she had moved to another planet to live, or she was currently hiding in some corner holding her breath.
“Well… even if she really ran away, she can run, but she can’t hide her tracks. It wouldn’t be right to leave such a large setup here without checking it out.”
“Let me see what secrets your organization is hiding.”
Charlotte sat directly at the computer desk, using the mouse and keyboard to check for any secret files on the computer.
Unfortunately, Charlotte was no computer expert; she only knew a few simple operations, and after rummaging through the hard drive for a long time, she couldn’t find anything related to their organization.
“Speaking of which, with four big screens here, can she even keep track of all these windows by herself?”
Charlotte couldn’t help but grumble, but just then, a familiar aroma suddenly wafted from behind her.
“Hmm?”
Charlotte turned around and saw an exquisite little teapot sitting on a nearby table, and the fragrance seemed to be coming from there.
She walked over with a look of confusion, picked up the teapot, took a careful sniff, and instantly an expression of realization dawned on her face.
“This is… black tea?”
“Hmm?”
Charlotte looked around; everyone had been scared away by her, so shouldn’t she reward herself with a cup of fragrant black tea?
Charlotte immediately poured herself a cup of black tea and drank it with delight.
“Wow! It’s been so long since I’ve had such sweet black tea!”
Ever since returning to the real world, she hadn’t tasted the black tea brewed by Lillian’s own hands; these past few days had felt like a blur, and she was almost having withdrawal symptoms.
Now that she had finally recharged her black tea energy, Charlotte felt she could continue the fight.
“Speaking of which, I didn’t expect someone in the real world to brew black tea as well as Lillian.”
However, just as Charlotte finished her lament, she suddenly felt the world spinning before her eyes, and her consciousness felt as if it were being pulled away from her body.
‘I didn’t expect that not only would someone in this world brew tea as well as Lillian, but even the sleeping effect of the tea would be exactly like Lillian’s.’
“Huh? This feeling… is so familiar!”
Like Kogoro Mouri hit by a tranquilizer needle, Charlotte’s body swayed as she stumbled backward, her butt landing directly on the nearby sofa, where she lay sprawled out in a deep sleep.
After a brief silence, a girl with short blue hair suddenly emerged from a nearby wardrobe, taking large gulps of the fresh air outside.
Once her breathing had stabilized, she looked at Charlotte snoring on the sofa and let out a deep sigh.
“I can’t believe this pot of sleeping black tea actually worked!”
This blue-haired girl was Qin Shion, who had been in constant contact with Sakurako Aya.
After confirming that Charlotte was fast asleep from drinking a large cup of the tea, Qin Shion took out her phone and called Sakurako Aya, who was still fleeing in a panic.
– “That girl has been taken down by my sleeping black tea, so stop running around like a headless chicken and get back here.”
Five minutes later, a sweat-drenched Sakurako Aya returned and stared at Charlotte on the sofa with a look of disbelief.
“I can’t believe the boss was telling the truth; the black tea Lillian brews really does have the effect of making someone fall into an immediate, deep sleep.”
“By the way, are we just going to let her sleep here? Shouldn’t we consider locking her up first?”
“If that’s what you want to do, then use your invincible Gravity Manipulation to take her away,” Qin Shion said without looking back as she rapidly tapped on the keyboard by the computer desk.
“No, my Gravity Manipulation doesn’t work on her; she can turn her own mass to zero.”
“She’s asleep now, so how is she going to turn herself to zero?”
“Some people are like that; even when they’re asleep, their power remains in an active state.”
“Are you describing yourself?” Qin Shion accurately retorted.
Without a doubt, Sakurako Aya was exactly such an example, occasionally waking up to find herself floating tens of thousands of meters in the sky, nearly passing through the atmosphere to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with satellites.
Consequently, she had to use a five-hundred-kilogram iron chain to lash herself firmly to the bed every time she slept, though even that didn’t change the fact that she would float into the high altitude along with the bed.
“Even if you can’t use your power, can’t you just physically move her? She doesn’t look heavy at all; you should be able to do it by yourself.”
“Mhm, you have a point,” Sakurako Aya agreed with Qin Shion’s words, then walked over to the sofa, reaching out her hands to take the sleeping Charlotte to the small dark room of their base.
However, just as her hands reached within a foot of Charlotte, a spark of electricity erupted from Sakurako Aya’s fingertips, giving her a massive fright.
“Ah—”
A stinging pain as if she had been shocked shot through her fingertips, and Sakurako Aya couldn’t help but cry out, “Holy sh*t, I got shocked! How can this girl still discharge electricity? That hurt like hell! Wait a minute, did you know about this all along, which is why you told me to just move her by hand?”
“That’s right; if I could have moved her easily, why would I have waited for you to crawl back here?”
After finishing her typing, Qin Shion turned around and pointed at Charlotte to provide a detailed explanation.
“There’s a powerful electrical aura around her; we can’t physically get close, so we can only wait for the Boss to return from the match before making a decision.”
In fact, this wasn’t an electrical barrier, but a self-protection function built into Charlotte’s witch robe.
Whenever a witch enters sleep, the robe sets up a magical barrier around her, and anyone with ill intentions will be blocked by this shield.
To approach a sleeping witch, one must maintain a state of mind free of all distracting thoughts.
“By the way, didn’t you go to the match to watch the Boss? How was the match? Did the Boss secure the final victory?”
“How should I know? I was halfway through when I suddenly spotted this girl there, and I had no choice but to lure her here to get revenge for the trick she played on me before.”
“In the end, you almost crashed and burned, and nearly dragged me down with you,” Qin Shion said, staring with dissatisfaction at Sakurako Aya, who was as unskilled yet stubborn as a teammate in Sanguosha.
“That’s only because this girl’s power is too twisted! She can change her mass, turn invisible, and now she’s discharging electricity—what kind of power is so ridiculous? You should have figured out her true power with your mind-reading by now, right?”
“Sorry, from the moment she entered this room, she hasn’t been thinking about her power at all, so I can’t read what kind of strange ability she has.”
Qin Shion spread her hands, indicating there was nothing she could do.
As the two of them watched Charlotte snoring in their hideout with helpless expressions, a rhythmic Hajimi ringtone suddenly erupted from Charlotte’s pocket.
It seemed someone was calling Charlotte.
However, due to the difficult-to-approach magical barrier around Charlotte, Sakurako Aya and Qin Shion were unable to answer the phone for her.
The ringtone lasted for a full minute before finally stopping.
