In the blink of an eye, the immobile Charlotte was hit hard by the black giant dragon, flying quickly like a shot baseball, slamming into the nearby rock face, and then falling weakly to the ground, motionless.
The blow nearly knocked Charlotte unconscious.
Fortunately, her pain tolerance was excellent.
The impact, which would be severe for an ordinary person, felt as easy as accidentally hitting a table leg.
Yet, even so, the current situation was not optimistic.
After receiving that strike, her body seemed to have several broken bones, making it extremely difficult to climb up from the ground.
She could use Holy Magic to heal, but her magical power was currently like stagnant water. If the power couldn’t flow within her body, she could never use Holy Magic to heal her injuries.
Charlotte had experienced this feeling once before, about two years ago, when she fought Yuffie. Yuffie set up a True Chaos Magic circle, preventing her from using magic, forcing her to lie still on the cold floor.
Although she later managed to break free by smashing the engraved floor with her bare hand.
But the current situation was completely different from back then.
The True Chaos Magic effect wasn’t caused by a magic circle but by the powerful aura emanating from the black giant dragon. Getting too close to that thing would cause her body to be disturbed by the True Chaos Magic aura, making it impossible to cast spells and fight.
“Damn it! Did I get too close?” Charlotte cursed inwardly.
The black giant dragon was still rampaging nearby, and she was in constant danger of being kicked to death.
“This is bad! This is truly hopeless! What should I do now?”
Charlotte wracked her brain but couldn’t think of any way to escape the current predicament. A sliver of despair began to creep into her heart.
Seeing the giant dragon lift its foot and prepare to stomp down on her, Charlotte’s breathing became increasingly frantic.
However, just as the giant dragon was about to crush Charlotte with its foot, a figure suddenly darted past and grabbed Charlotte, speeding toward the cave entrance.
“Eh?”
Seeing a few strands of red hair fly past her, Charlotte immediately knew that the person who saved her was Alice, the Commander of the Holy Knights.
Although Charlotte had been confidently bragging, Alice felt uneasy. She had turned back halfway and, sure enough, found Charlotte lying motionless on the ground, about to be crushed into a pancake by the black giant dragon’s foot.
She didn’t hesitate and snatched Charlotte from beneath the black giant dragon’s foot with lightning speed.
Because Charlotte was small, even holding her in her arms didn’t affect Alice’s balance when running fast. Alice held Charlotte tightly.
However, as she ran quickly, the two fleshy lumps on her chest kept slapping Charlotte’s cheek, making Charlotte realize that being hugged by a girl wasn’t always comfortable.
The black giant dragon, noticing its prey was stolen, roared in anger and chased after them.
And so, in the rapidly collapsing cave, Alice, holding Charlotte like a child, ran quickly toward the exit, dodging the falling debris that rained down like a storm.
Not far behind her, the black giant dragon relentlessly pursued them.
The black giant dragon’s huge body smashed everything it touched, accelerating the cave’s collapse.
Seeing the cave entrance about to be blocked by debris, Alice ran even faster.
As they distanced themselves from the dragon, Charlotte’s fingers twitched slightly.
Feeling the True Chaos Magic aura disappear from her body, the familiar ability to use magic returned. Charlotte urgently shouted at Alice.
“Quick, turn around!”
Although utterly confused by Charlotte’s sudden instruction, Alice immediately turned around while holding Charlotte, facing the direction the black giant dragon was chasing from.
Charlotte then raised her movable right hand and aimed it at the black giant dragon. Instantly, a blast of light shot out from her palm, striking the face of the pursuing black giant dragon.
The blast immediately sent the black giant dragon flying back down to the bottom of the stairs. Alice and Charlotte, using the force of the recoil, were propelled out of the rapidly closing cave entrance, tracing a graceful arc in the air before landing in the forest nearby.
Following that, the entire cave completely collapsed, scattering debris and dust everywhere.
But the black giant dragon was clearly not defeated by the cave-in.
Seconds after the cave completely collapsed, a black flash of light burst through the ground, blowing away all the debris blocking the entrance.
The debris, covered in black flames, landed in the surrounding forest, instantly igniting a massive fire.
Witnessing the catastrophe caused by the black giant dragon, Charlotte and Alice, leaning against a large tree and struggling to stand, looked tense.
“What a formidable creature!” Charlotte, covered in dust and having just endured a severe beating, sighed.
Having barely escaped the black giant dragon’s clutches, Charlotte finally had the space to heal her injuries.
Fortunately, the powerful tail whip earlier hadn’t broken all her bones. Her right hand was still marginally functional. If she couldn’t move her right hand, she wouldn’t be able to touch her chest and use Holy Magic to completely heal her body.
While Charlotte was healing, the black giant dragon climbed out of the collapsed cave and began to recklessly shoot black flames everywhere.
Slaying the dragon was imminent.
But just as Alice was about to summon the Holy Knight members to set up a formation and charge the black giant dragon, Charlotte stopped her.
“Wait a minute! That thing has a strong True Chaos Magic aura around it! If you get too close, all the magical power in your body will turn into stagnant water! That’s a terrible situation for you close-combat fighters!”
“No matter how unfavorable the situation is, the Holy Knights won’t just stand by and watch this disaster! Besides, we don’t retreat just because the situation is bad! If Witch-sama feels it’s too dangerous here, hurry up and retreat to a safe area.” Alice replied firmly.
“What are you talking about? I didn’t say I was retreating. I’m just thinking about how to defeat this massive creature.”
