Chapter 195: Is it funny that shopping guides are outdated?

“Roasted meatballs! Freshly roasted meatballs!”

“Ten for a single copper coin!”

Along with the peddler’s loud, rhythmic shouting, Lillian shoved a skewer of roasted meatballs that Charlotte had bought for her into her mouth.

Instantly, a taste she had never experienced before exploded in her mouth like fireworks, and Lillian couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock.

“What is this? It’s so good! It’s truly delicious!”

Lillian devoured the entire skewer of meatballs in no time, which made Charlotte, who had only eaten one, pause slightly.

‘I didn’t expect this kind of street food to be so much to Lillian’s taste.’

Although Lillian had prepared three meals a day for Charlotte for nearly four years and had mastered every recipe, what she had mastered were basically cooked dishes meant for the dining table. She didn’t know anything about these simple, rustic roasted delicacies.

She probably found it hard to understand why humans would be so obsessed with this kind of slightly burnt, sticky, and greasy sensation.

But now, having tasted this skewer of roasted meatballs, she finally understood—that crispy, piping-hot sensation was simply unforgettable, intoxicating, and addictive.

Seeing Lillian’s astonished expression, Charlotte puffed out her small chest and said proudly:

“Hehe, Lillian, I told you, didn’t I? These street foods are beyond your imagination.”

Unfortunately, this world lacked spices like cumin that could unleash the true power of grilled food. Otherwise, the business of these street food stalls would have taken off instantly.

“Yes, Lady Charlotte, I underestimated them! Where should we visit next? I can’t wait to try another delicious treat!”

Thinking of the countless delicacies waiting for her to explore on this street, Lillian stomped her feet in excitement, her eyes sparkling.

“You really are something else! Let me, your tour guide, take you for a proper stroll!”

After Charlotte stuffed the remaining roasted meatballs into her mouth, she took Lillian to the next location.

Although Charlotte had never been to the Royal Capital of Saint-Racia in the Kingdom of York before, that didn’t mean she was clueless about the delicacies on the capital’s streets.

After all, in The Adventures of the Mist Witch, her Mom Rhynes and Dad Roland had once wandered all over this royal capital.

Charlotte knew the routes and where to go like the back of her hand.

However, although Charlotte had done her homework, things always exceeded her expectations.

“Huh? This was supposed to be a snack stall, right? Why has it become a tofu shop?”

After discovering that the shops on the streets of the Royal Capital were vastly different from her memory, Charlotte finally realized that the guidebook she had referenced had been outdated for a long time.

After all, the story of Mom Rhynes and Dad Roland wandering the capital had taken place more than ten years ago. Even if ten years was a short time, many things had changed.

“Crap, where do I even start touring this new version of the Royal Capital? If I had known, I wouldn’t have been so stubborn and just grabbed a tour guide instead.”

Seeing Charlotte’s troubled expression, Lillian didn’t know what to do.

But just then, a familiar voice suddenly called out to them.

“Hey, you two! Don’t run around the streets like that! I didn’t invite you here to enjoy this kind of street food! This isn’t why I brought you here!”

Charlotte and Lillian turned their heads at the sound and found Elsa, drenched in sweat and panting, appearing behind them.

“Ah, the tour guide has arrived!” Charlotte immediately grabbed Elsa’s hand, fearing that Elsa would vanish the next second.

“What? Tour guide?” Pulled by Charlotte, Elsa, who had been resentful of her, felt bewildered, having no idea what Charlotte was trying to do.

“We want to tour the most famous street snacks on this street. Unfortunately, the shops we’ve heard of seem to have all gone out of business. Since you’re here, why don’t you just take us around to all those street food spots!”

Realizing Charlotte was still obsessed with these street snacks, Elsa couldn’t help but complain loudly at her again.

“I told you, I didn’t invite you here for you to taste this kind of street food! The real gourmet food is inside our Royal Palace! Besides, I have no idea what delicious food is on this street! Finding me is completely useless!”

“Eh? Isn’t this your royal capital? How can you not know what delicious food is on the streets of your own hometown?”

“That’s because I’ve never walked out of the Royal Palace to stroll down this street before! There are meals made by the top chefs in the world inside the Royal Palace; who would ever walk out of the palace to eat these things on the street? Alright, stop wandering around. Follow me to the Royal Palace first, and don’t keep that master chef waiting too long!”

With that, Elsa took hold of Charlotte’s wrist and forcefully pulled her toward the Royal Palace.

As for Lillian, Elsa didn’t need to worry about her at all.

As long as she dragged Charlotte along, Lillian would follow obediently like a newborn lamb.

“Eh? Don’t drag me like that! Alright, alright, I’ll go with you, but let go of my hand first!”

But Elsa acted as if she hadn’t heard a thing, continuing to grip Charlotte’s wrist tightly, giving her no chance to escape.

After all, having spent a full four years with Charlotte, Elsa had long since figured out Charlotte’s habit of vanishing the moment she was let go. If she let go of Charlotte’s hand here, Charlotte would immediately run away like Eren chasing freedom, and no one would be able to catch her.

She didn’t want to waste time on this boring game of hide-and-seek again.

If possible, she wanted to drag Charlotte to the Royal Palace in one go and use the world’s number one gourmet food made by that divine chef to stuff Charlotte’s mouth.

However, just as Elsa was pulling Charlotte’s hand and preparing to head toward the Royal Palace, a red-haired girl dressed in silver armor with a holy sword hanging from her waist suddenly walked out from the crowd, colliding head-on with Elsa.

The two paused after seeing each other.

“Eh? Why did you stop?” Noticing Charlotte had stopped, she turned her head, but then she saw the red-haired girl, cool and dashing like a knight, standing before Elsa.

“Uh…” Charlotte couldn’t help but fall into a silence.

She also recognized this red-haired girl; she was Elsa’s older sister, Alice, the current Commander of the Holy Knights.
