“Right!”
In response to the many questions from the bandits about how they were flying, the witch Rhynes, with her energetic voice, provided an answer.
“Although I don’t fully understand what’s going on here, judging by your blood-soaked appearances, you seem to be the bad guys, right! To prevent you bad guys from harming innocent people, I had no choice but to use Floating Magic to make you calm down first.”
“Magic? What kind of strange thing is that? I’ve never heard of it!”
“Hey, are they witches from Tsumuguri City?”
“What kind of ghost place is that?”
“That place is located at the junction of the three kingdoms: York, Red Rose, and White Rose. There’s a Starsea Magic Academy there that specializes in training witches. Every witch who comes out of there is a genius! They can level an entire hill with a flick of their finger! Their strength is absolutely terrifying!”
“Is it really that terrifying? Are you kidding me? You always pull ridiculous jokes at crucial moments! I don’t believe that place is that powerful!”
The floating bandits, talking over each other, still showed no sign of putting down their weapons and repenting.
Although their aggression was quite intense, under the strong control of the witch Rhynes, their bodies still couldn’t move an inch.
“It looks like you haven’t calmed down yet. I’ll have to give you a little more help.”
The witch Rhynes sighed lightly, then snapped her fingers crisply.
Instantly, the levitation effect on the bandits completely vanished. But at the same time, a powerful external force collided with them.
Like being rear-ended by a sudden black luxury sedan, the bandits were instantly sent flying, falling to the ground like scattered dumplings. Some were even left hanging on the trees.
Seeing this scene, Roland, who was shielded by the witch Rhynes, was utterly shocked.
What he couldn’t do, the witch before him did effortlessly, without even seeming to move her hands.
“Is this a witch?”
Roland suppressed the shock in his heart, clutched his injured right arm, and asked the witch before him.
Roland endured the severe pain, leaning on his injured arm to stand up.
“I don’t know who you are, but thank you for saving my life!”
Hearing Roland’s gratitude, the witch Rhynes turned around and was startled by the sight of Roland’s wounds.
“Wow! You’re so seriously injured, and you’re still standing? Don’t worry! I’ll heal those wounds for you right away!”
The witch Rhynes was about to use Holy Magic to treat Roland, but at that moment, the bandit leader climbed up from the ground with a look of disbelief.
“Are you kidding me? I don’t care if you’re a male witch or a female witch! This is my territory! You can’t just act recklessly here! Die!”
The bandit leader grabbed a dropped axe and rushed toward the witch Rhynes.
“Look out!” Roland cried out in alarm.
The witch Rhynes heard the commotion and turned her head to look. Seeing the bandit leader, she was quite surprised.
“Hmm?”
When she cast the Floating Magic earlier, the bandit leader hadn’t been included because he wasn’t holding a weapon.
Seeing all his subordinates flung away, the bandit leader must have been very frustrated.
Thinking this, the corner of the witch Rhynes’s mouth curled up slightly.
In the next second, the bandit leader was already in front of the witch Rhynes, swinging the axe in an upward arc.
Instantly, the magic hat on the witch Rhynes’s head was sent flying, spinning rapidly in the air.
The witch Rhynes’s golden hair scattered at that moment, a sight that made Roland’s mouth drop open in astonishment.
‘Such beautiful hair.’
But there was another person who was surprised: the bandit leader who had just swung the axe.
He was surprised that the blonde girl, after dodging his strike, was holding a strange black stick aimed at his nose and chanting loudly.
“Special Grade Magic—Crimson Judgment Bullet!”
A red light instantly burst from the tip of the wand, streaking across the ground. After a brief silence, the ground split cleanly like a sliced cake.
The powerful red light shot forward, climbing all the way to the top of the mountain forest, where it erupted into a massive mushroom cloud.
The appearance of the mushroom cloud instantly seemed to change the color of the world. Before long, a strong shockwave flew down the mountain, making the surrounding trees shake violently. Even the horses pulling the carriages nearby were startled and panicked.
The bandit leader, whose ear was grazed by the Judgment Bullet, stared at the smoking wand in disbelief, unable to speak.
“Sorry, I missed the target. Can I try again?”
The witch Rhynes was about to fire another Judgment Bullet, but the bandit leader, hearing her words, collapsed onto the ground, rigid and wide-eyed. He had clearly been scared unconscious on the spot.
“Uh…” Seeing the bandit leader collapse, the witch Rhynes looked surprised.
The magic hat that had flown into the air finally landed on Roland’s head, completely covering his face.
The scene then froze in that instant.
“Wow, as expected of Mom! That display was extraordinary! She’s so powerful!”
Charlotte exclaimed after watching the story.
“Of course! Your Mom was the strongest Mist Witch at the Starsea Magic Academy back then. Dealing with those small fries was effortless!”
Mom Rhynes, standing beside her, put her hands on her hips and looked smug.
“But, Mom, wasn’t your magic a little too much firepower? What if you accidentally hurt someone else?”
Looking at the massive mushroom cloud on the mountaintop, Charlotte looked worried. “Am I going to become like that too?”
“You don’t need to worry about that. Mom’s magic didn’t hurt any innocent people.”
“Then what about those figures flying off the mountaintop? I saw a few houses were destroyed too!”
“Oh, that place was the bandits’ hideout. Everyone who was there deserved what they got.”
“So you mean no innocent people were hurt?” Charlotte couldn’t help but retort. Then, she asked Mom Rhynes, “By the way, what happened next? What about the light novel material?”
“What happened next?”
“The exciting battle scene with you showing off is over. Now comes the sweet daily life interaction between you and Dad Roland, right? That should be next!”
“Oh, you mean that? You’ll only see that in the next encounter.”
“What? You met more than once?”
“Yes. Before we decided to live together, there were three encounter scenes. This chapter is just our first encounter. Well, since we had just met, naturally, the sweet daily life you’re imagining wouldn’t happen yet.”
“Then why did you show me such a long, dramatic battle scene? Were you trying to get me all hyped up?” Charlotte felt a little disappointed that the scenario she had hoped for didn’t happen in this chapter.
“Well, we did talk a little afterward. But I had to go back to Tsumuguri City to report. After healing your Dad Roland and the merchants he protected, I left them.”
Mom Rhynes fast-forwarded the scene at eight times the speed. Sure enough, in less than ten seconds, the witch Rhynes rode her beloved broomstick and flew away, leaving Roland alone, staring blankly at her vanishing figure.
“Then why are we standing here? Mom, hurry and bring up the story of your second encounter! I can’t wait!”
“Alright, alright! I didn’t realize you wanted to watch Mom’s story so much! I’ll show you enough for now!”
With Mom Rhynes’s manipulation, the surrounding scene changed drastically once again.
The story of the second encounter between the witch Rhynes and the swordsman Roland unfolded again in the small secret library.
