Chapter 27: Luckily, I had a backup plan.

“Speaking of which, I haven’t touched this thing in fifteen years. I’ve forgotten how to unlock it.”

On the way to the Kendo Club, Charlotte, trailing behind Yukina, was bored and fiddled with her phone.

“Why don’t you just use your fingerprint?” Yukina replied dismissively.

“I tried, but it doesn’t work! The phone doesn’t react at all.”

“Hmm? The fingerprint unlock won’t work? Is this even your phone?”

“Do you think your big brother would be the kind of bad woman who would steal someone else’s phone for her own use?”

“Yes,” Yukina answered without hesitation. “You use counterfeit money without a shred of guilt, who knows what other outrageous things you’re capable of.”

“Your big brother is that kind of woman in your eyes? I’m so sad!”

“Why does that sound so strange to say? Alright, stop fiddling with it. Let me take a look.”

Yukina took the phone Charlotte handed her and examined it for a moment.

“The battery is full, the lock screen is lit up, and the wallpaper is your favorite, Clara… Ugh, why is she always naked?”

After studying it for a long time, Yukina still couldn’t figure out why her brother couldn’t unlock her own phone.

“This is definitely your brother’s phone! Why wouldn’t it work?”

However, at that moment, Yukina’s gaze fell precisely on Charlotte’s slender, delicate hand.

Yukina instantly felt like an idiot for having thought about it for so long.

Trying to get Charlotte, post-reincarnation, to unlock the phone of Xinghe, pre-reincarnation, was as absurd as trying to execute a current official with a sword from a previous dynasty.

“It would be a miracle if that unlocked it.”

“Yukina, do you know why it won’t unlock?” Charlotte still looked completely clueless.

“I know. It’s because this isn’t your phone,” Yukina intentionally emphasized the word “your.”

“How can it not be my phone? Look, this lock screen wallpaper, who else in the world would use it besides me?” However, Charlotte was as dense as a light novel protagonist, completely missing the point of Yukina’s words.

“Stop making me look at naked anime characters! You shrimp-head brother!”

“No, I don’t mean that, I mean…”

“Then I’ll ask you, who are you now?”

“I’m Yukina’s brother!”

“The name! I’m asking for the name!”

“I already told you my name! I’m Charlo—”
At this, Charlotte finally understood, looking down at her own small, tender hand.
“Oh! So the fingerprint is different now!”

“Brother, why are you only just figuring that out? You’re so dense!”

“Well, I’ve been reincarnated like this for so long. I almost forgot I was a boy before the reincarnation,” Charlotte said, laughing awkwardly.

“You remember the fact that you’re my brother so clearly,” Yukina glared at her suspiciously.

“I never thought the fingerprint would be different! But luckily, I have a backup plan.”

“A backup plan?”

Yukina looked confused, then saw Charlotte pull out a black, dried-up right hand from her dimensional space.

“Is that the backup plan?” Yukina was instantly shocked. She hurriedly tried to stop Charlotte. “Brother, quickly put that thing back! You just promised me not to use magic in the school!”

“Eh? But if I don’t do this, how am I supposed to unlock it?”

“If the fingerprint won’t unlock it, just use the password.”

Yukina swiped to the password unlock page, typed in a sequence of numbers, and immediately entered the normal operation screen.

“There, see? It’s solved!” Yukina handed the unlocked phone back to Charlotte. “You can just set a new fingerprint now, brother.”

“Wow, Yukina, you’re amazing! You unlocked it so quickly.” Charlotte exclaimed, but then she realized, “Hey, wait a minute. How did you know my phone’s lock screen password, Yukina?”

“I just happened to see it.”

“Happened to see it?”

“Brother, do you remember last month… well, you probably don’t. Last month, you accidentally cut your finger while chopping vegetables. Afterward, you couldn’t unlock it with your fingerprint for a long time, so you used the password to unlock the screen. I happened to be walking past you at that moment, so I memorized your lock screen password.”

“You remembered it so clearly just from one glance? Are you secretly in love with your big brother?”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Yukina reached out with both hands and firmly pinched Charlotte’s cheeks.

“What are you fantasizing about, brother? How could I possibly be secretly in love with you? You’re the person I hate the most!”

“Yukina, stop pinching! If you pinch me any more, your big brother will have a round face!”

“Hmph!” Yukina released Charlotte’s face in annoyance.

“Wuwuwuwu…” Even after Yukina let go, Charlotte could still feel a stinging pain in both cheeks.

‘Yukina really goes all out on her own brother!’

“Alright, stop wasting time here. Let’s hurry up!”

Yukina was about to lead Charlotte toward the Kendo Club when she looked up and saw a few girls in school uniforms walking in the corridor not far ahead, chatting and laughing.

Leading them was a beautiful girl with long orange hair, a white flower-shaped hair ornament on her head, and a large chest.

Though, if one were to compare seriously, this beautiful girl was slightly less attractive than Yukina.

This orange-haired beauty was the Kendo Club’s number one captain, Aiba Mika.

Seeing Aiba Mika pass right in front of her, Yukina was about to step forward and greet her senior.

“Yo, Mika!”

Just as she raised her hand, before the words “Senior Aiba” could leave her mouth, Charlotte’s voice suddenly came from behind her.

Hearing the voice, Mika, who was not far away, turned her head to look.

She immediately saw Yukina with her back to her, doing something mysterious.

And Yukina was currently holding Charlotte in a hug, tightly covering her mouth with her hand.

Fortunately, Charlotte was small enough for Yukina to completely hide her body.

“What are you suddenly saying, brother?”

“Eh? I was just saying hello to my classmate. Is that not allowed either?” Even with her mouth tightly covered, Charlotte could still make small, clear sounds.

“What? Senior Aiba is your classmate, brother?” Yukina looked utterly incredulous. She found it hard to believe that the gentle, stylish Senior Aiba, whom so many junior girls had crushes on, could be associated with her wretched brother.

“Yeah, we get along pretty well. My hot-blooded-then-hilarious manga was borrowed from her! I still need to return it to her!”

“Uh, well…”
