Chapter 221: Is it funny that the same plot is being played out again?

While Lillian was frantically sniffing around in the bushes, a patrol of knights happened to walk by.

Charlotte recognized the leader of the squad; it was the same guard who had been posted at the main gate when they first arrived at the palace. It seemed her name was Sophia.

Seeing Charlotte and the others appearing to search for something, Sophia stepped forward with a look of confusion.

“Witch-samas, have you lost something?”

“Oh, we’re looking for a big white cat named Shasha. Do you have any idea where it might be?” Charlotte replied nonchalantly.

“A big white cat named Shasha? Witch-sama, are you referring to the one kept by Her Majesty the Queen?”

“Yes, that’s the one! Do you know where it went?”

“I’m very sorry, I’m not entirely sure where it went. However, it often sneaks out of the palace to the outside lately, returning very late at night. I suppose it’s the same today!”

“Outside? Outside means…”

Before Charlotte could get her answer, Lillian suddenly noticed something. Her eyes lit up as if she had found a clue, and she immediately bolted away.

“Found it! It ran this way!”

“Eh? Lillian, wait for us!” Seeing this, Charlotte hurriedly grabbed Shaula’s hand and gave chase.

Watching Charlotte and Shaula run off in a hurry, hand in hand, Sophia couldn’t help but exclaim with emotion.

“What a pair of very close twin sisters! It must be such a happy thing for them to become witches together!”

Led by Lillian, Charlotte and the others soon arrived at the busiest market street in the royal capital.

The street was teeming with an endless stream of pedestrians, densely packed like ants in a hot pot.

Looking at the bustling street, Charlotte couldn’t help but break into a light sweat.

“Hey, don’t tell me that big white cat is mixed into this crowd? How are we supposed to find it now?”

Because the street was filled with vendors selling street food, Lillian’s task of tracking by scent became increasingly difficult amidst the mix of delicious aromas.

To help Lillian find the cat quickly, Charlotte and Shaula split up to ask the nearby vendors, although their efficiency wasn’t very high since they were eating street food while asking.

Fortunately, they finally got a lead from a fruit stall vendor.

And so…

The three of them ended up in a secluded alley searching for the cat.

“I have a feeling I’ve experienced this kind of plot before!” Charlotte muttered while strolling through the quiet alley.

“Lillian, how is it? Can you smell that big white cat?” Lillian, crouching in a corner and sniffing, looked up at Charlotte and said.

“Yes, Lady Charlotte. The scent here is very strong; it must have been here not long ago. As long as we keep moving forward, we’ll definitely find it!”

“Um, Lillian…”

“What? Does Lady Charlotte doubt my judgment?” Noticing Charlotte’s hesitation, Lillian asked, puzzled.

“No, I mean,” Charlotte pointed to the end of the alley, “we’ve already found it.”

Lillian looked in the direction Charlotte was pointing and saw a white cat wearing a blue crystal necklace walking leisurely at the end of the small alley.

“That must be the big white cat we’re looking for!”

“It’s definitely it!” Shaula said with certainty. Because she had petted it that morning, she still had a very vivid impression of that cat.

Seeing the big white cat they had searched so hard for finally appearing before them, Lillian took on the stance of a cheetah discovering prey, preparing to dash over and capture it.

Just as she was about to pounce, Charlotte hurriedly stopped her.

“Don’t be rash, Lillian! If you rush over like that, you’ll definitely scare it away! Leave it to me; I have plenty of experience teasing cats!”

Hearing Charlotte’s instruction, Lillian reluctantly gave up the idea of rushing forward.

Charlotte crept toward the cat little by little.

“Kitty, kitty… no, wait, Shasha! Shasha!” She called the cat’s name softly, trying to get it to lower its guard.

However, upon hearing someone call its name, the big white cat turned its head, saw the three massive figures behind it, and took off in a panic.

This turn of events left Charlotte utterly bewildered.

“Eh? Wasn’t Elsa supposed to have said that calling its name would be enough? Is the intelligence wrong?”

Lillian, seeing this, didn’t waste a second and sprinted in the direction the cat had fled.

“Ula-la! Come on, let’s chase after it! Don’t let the big white cat get away!”

“Oh, okay!” Shaula, caught off guard, subconsciously followed Charlotte on her magic broomstick in pursuit.

“How can I let you escape so easily?” To prevent the cat from escaping, Charlotte flew quickly on her magic broomstick while aiming her right hand at the cat’s flight path, firing a barrage of magic bullets.

But the cat was far too agile, dodging them with ease, as if it were a player in a Touhou bullet-hell game.

The magic bullets landed on the alley floor, blasting out deep, fist-sized craters.

This sight left Shaula, who was following behind Charlotte, dumbstruck.

“Sister Charlotte, we’re trying to catch it alive, right?”

It looked like Charlotte was in a mood to capture the cat—dead or alive.

“As long as it doesn’t run around and lets us catch it, that’s fine! Missing a limb or two doesn’t matter; Holy Magic can heal it in the end!”

“Ah? Is that really okay? That’s the cat from Sister Elsa’s family!”
