Chapter 49: Don’t you still see me in your eyes?

The ending song, “What is Ordinary and What is Natural,” concluded, and Yukina, having watched another episode, stretched on the bench.

“Well? Wasn’t your big brother’s adventure in the other world exciting?” Charlotte, sitting beside her, stared at Yukina with wide eyes and an expectant look, seemingly wanting Yukina to compliment her.

“Just average,” Yukina gave a moderate assessment.

“Eh? That’s just average?”

“What else? Didn’t you say you’re the strongest Star Witch in the other world, brother? Why did you only show me scenes of you getting beaten up? Though I did enjoy those parts.” Yukina, who loved watching her young brother getting bullied, said this.

“Well, those scenes are the most crucial plot points! Without them, the later plot would make no sense. Besides, your brother getting beaten up is a necessary part of the plot! The more I get beaten up in the early stages, the more I can show off later!”

“So when are you going to show off for me?”

“I’ll start showing off in the next episode. Do you want to continue watching, Yukina? If you do, your big brother will edit the next episode for you right now.”

“Forget it! The sun is about to set. Let’s go home first, brother.” Looking at the sunset on the distant buildings, Yukina couldn’t help but sigh at how quickly time passed. A perfectly good Saturday had slipped away while watching two episodes of an anime.

“Then your Master is really pathetic!”

Just as the words left her mouth, Yukina’s phone received a picture.

Yukina opened it curiously and saw a twelve-year-old girl with purple twin tails, standing tall in a magic robe. She had seemingly reached the age of development, as her chest was slightly protruding.

“I feel like this sister of yours is developing better than you are! Is your body even developing, brother?”

“Yukina, you’re insulting me again! I’ve told you countless times, I will develop later!” Charlotte put her hands on her hips and glared at Yukina with dissatisfaction.

“Alright, alright, your future is bright, brother!” After lightly teasing Charlotte, Yukina’s gaze returned to Shaula’s photo. Then she suddenly noticed that Shaula’s eyes seemed a bit off. “Wait a minute, brother, why does this child’s gaze have no ‘high-light’ in it? What did you do to her? Did you use some kind of hypnosis magic to turn this cute sister into your personal property?”

“Yukina, stop reading all those weird manga! The other world isn’t some 2D world. Not everyone is born with automatic highlights in their eyes! If you don’t believe me, look at my eyes right now. If you can see a high-light in my eyes, I’ll take your surname!”

“We already have the same surname!”

Yukina refused to believe her. She walked up to Charlotte, cupped her hands around Charlotte’s face, and stared intently into her eyes.

“Well? There are no high-lights in my eyes, right!”

“Brother, you’re talking nonsense again! You have me in your eyes!”

“That’s obvious!”
