Charlotte gently poked her small head out, speaking softly to Yukina, who looked furious, like Darius throwing two bombs at an Elderwood Hermit who just came online.
“What else was I supposed to do? We were having a nice dinner, and suddenly a Molotov cocktail exploded in your face. Can you really calmly compliment the throw?”
“Well… Next time, I’ll definitely choose a scene without Molotov cocktails to start the playback!”
“Is that the point? You suddenly switched to such a fiery combat scene before I was ready! Are you trying to get me to sue you and claim my insurance money? And why can’t you just start the playback from the beginning of the fight?”
“Of course, you have to start with the most exciting part! That’s the only way to grab the audience’s attention and get their emotions engaged! That’s what all the popular short videos do!”
Charlotte’s answer left Yukina completely speechless.
After a moment of silence, she sighed helplessly. “Brother, you should really stop watching those short videos!”
“Then can I continue playing this magnificent battle?” Charlotte tentatively asked for Yukina’s opinion.
Judging by Yukina’s expression, she didn’t seem entirely appeased.
“I haven’t even finished the story before that! You’re serving up this exam from years ago! Aren’t you intentionally trying to ruin my viewing experience?” Yukina complained to Charlotte, folding her arms across her chest and half-closing her eyes.
“Alright, alright, I’ll bring up the previous story for you.”
At Yukina’s suggestion, Charlotte reluctantly put the memory away, intending to pull up another segment.
“By the way, where were you watching up to?”
“Hmm…” Yukina thought for a moment. “Probably somewhere around where you and Yuffie cleaned the abandoned pool.”
“Is this it?” Charlotte found the memory and played it back.
Instantly, the surroundings transformed into the warm, quiet style of the Night-Glow Tower. Lillian, in her maid outfit, was cleaning the floor with a broom, and the scene from the pool was playing behind her.
As if given a tranquilizer shot, the previously displeased Yukina quieted down, staring intently at the scene.
An hour later, Yukina, having finished the post-credits scene of the Yuffie arc, suddenly slammed her hands on the table and shouted loudly.
“Wait a minute! This is absolutely not the time to be watching this!”
They had been talking about the mastermind who caused Xiaoxi to go dark.
But as they talked, the topic had started to veer off like an unpredictable fate stage.
“No matter what, the fact that that guy is from another world is a certainty now! Although I don’t know why he’s targeting you for revenge, the fact that he can use magic even you don’t know means he’s definitely not some easily disposable small-fry. You must be careful in the future, brother!”
“Don’t worry, Yukina. No matter what, I’m the current strongest witch in the other world. I won’t be divided by 2 like a certain modern strongest sorcerer.” Charlotte gently patted her flat chest, showing a confident expression.
“Eh?” Yukina looked unconvinced.
Given Charlotte’s reckless personality, she would capsize in some unnoticed gutter eventually.
“So, Yukina, do you still want to continue watching your big brother’s adventure in the other world?”
After dinner, the energetic Charlotte asked Yukina, who was wiping her hands after washing the dishes.
Yukina’s face did not show any enthusiasm. Instead, she looked weary, like a thirty-year-old office worker who had just finished work.
“Sorry, too much has happened today. I really don’t feel like watching any more anime.”
“But you were so into it while we were eating!”
“That’s because you derailed the conversation!” Yukina angrily waved her hand.
It was already this late. If she didn’t go to sleep soon, she would definitely be late for school tomorrow!
The clock on the wall was already pointing to nine o’clock.
Thanks to Charlotte, their simple dinner had been delayed for over an hour.
If this continued, she would certainly not wake up on time tomorrow, and that would make her late for school.
She didn’t want a single tardy mark on her precious three years of high school life.
“Going to school really is a hassle!” Charlotte couldn’t help but sigh.
“I know, right!” Yukina nodded in agreement.
Her exhausted nerves instinctively felt like she didn’t want to attend school for another day.
But she quickly realized something was wrong.
“Eh? Brother, did you have to go to school every day in the other world too? Was it okay to be late at your Magic Academy?”
The Starsea Magic Academy was a six-year academy. Students started at ten and had to pass an exam at sixteen to become an official witch.
Charlotte, being a magical genius, had passed the exam at the beginning of her sixth year and became the Star Witch.
Logically, Charlotte still had more than half a year of her studies left. She should be participating in the academy’s courses, waking up early and sleeping late. How could she have degenerated to the point where she could sleep for an eternity?
“Well, your big brother is a very talented magical genius! Being late occasionally doesn’t really matter. But if it was that person’s magic class, I had to be there ten minutes early. Otherwise, she would actually deduct my academic credits!”
The person Charlotte referred to was Instructor Mashiro, who constantly “looked after” her.
Ever since she entered the Starsea Magic Academy, Mashiro was like an oxen that helped her fight a zombie, constantly deducting her academic credits.
Fortunately, Mashiro’s class was only once a week. For Charlotte, who loved sleeping until the sun hit her butt, it wasn’t a catastrophe.
Yukina shot her lazy brother a look of contempt.
“Fine, I give up on you.”
Leaving those words, Yukina turned and walked into her room.
As she pushed the door open, Yukina seemed to remember something. She turned her head and asked Charlotte.
“By the way, brother, are you going to school tomorrow too?”
“Yes! Why?” Charlotte answered without thinking.
“No, nothing. Since you’re planning to go to school tomorrow too, brother, you should go to bed early tonight!”
Regardless of the expression Charlotte might wear, Yukina walked into her room and closed the door without looking back.
Then she leaned against the door with a thoughtful expression.
The experiences of the past few days felt unreal to Yukina, like a dream.
Her daily life had unconsciously changed drastically from before.
Fortunately, her brother was still with her. They could still live together, go to school together, and support each other.
But unlike before, her brother was no longer an ordinary human but a monstrous witch from another world.
If she suddenly left without a word one day, it would be a perfectly normal thing.
However, Yukina was terrified of that day coming.
When Xinghe had the car accident, she had experienced the loneliness of being alone.
She didn’t want to experience that terrible feeling again.
If possible, she truly wanted to keep her brother by her side forever, like a loyal dog!
