“Yes, yes, just like that. As long as you keep pressing the center of the image, you can accelerate the time flow of that scene. That way, our search will be much faster!”
Under Charlotte’s careful instruction, Yukina quickly grasped the process of searching for useful information within the memory playback.
In short, these transparent images covering the entire room were all small segments of Charlotte’s memory.
The plot of each image was relatively mundane. It should be easy to quickly screen the images for the information she needed.
However, the number of images to screen far exceeded Yukina’s expectations.
Even the simplest task, when infinitely stacked, becomes too heavy to bear, like endless overtime at an electronics factory.
“By the way, what exactly does the person you’re looking for look like, brother?” Yukina realized she had never asked this question.
“Hmm…” Charlotte thought for a moment.
“That guy wears a demon mask, so I can’t see his face. All I know is that he has short, blue hair, and his clothes are a black jacket and black jeans, fitting this world’s aesthetic. I can’t deduce where he’s from based on his clothes.”
“Is that so?” Yukina blinked, half-understanding, and then dove into the work of searching for the target.
But after a short while, she seemed to remember something and turned her head to ask Charlotte a new question.
“By the way, brother, in your world, is magic only usable by witches?”
In the stories Charlotte had played back for her, she had never seen a man use magic. All the people who could ride a broomstick and fly around wielding a wand were cute girls.
“No, magic isn’t a privilege exclusive to us witches. Anyone with magical power inside them can use magic.”
“Then why have I never seen a man use magic in your world?”
“That’s because of adaptability. You can’t generalize about people. The difficulty of completing the same task is different for different people.”
“Magic is the same.”
“Although men also have magical power, they aren’t skilled in using magic. They primarily consume magical power to briefly strengthen their own bodies, making their attacks incredibly destructive.”
“Leveling a hill with a single punch is nothing out of the ordinary for them. Compared to that way of using magic, our magic is much more delicate. So naturally, only we girls use it!”
Hearing Charlotte’s smiling explanation, Yukina frowned.
Recalling the scenes of her brother using magic, she found it hard to associate Charlotte with the word “delicate.”
Every one of Charlotte’s stories ended with a massive mushroom cloud rising up, like the eighth egg in the Detective Conan movies. Without that mushroom cloud, the story felt incomplete.
“Well, of course, there are exceptions. We do have a few high-quality male humans who are skilled at using magic.”
“Since the girls who can use magic in your world are called witches, are the boys who can use magic called ‘male witches’?”
“The person who came up with the term ‘male witch’ should be hired by a low-class company. They are called Mages. Although their numbers are much smaller than ours.”
“I see. So, the guy we’re looking for is one of the few remaining Mages in your other world?”
“Eh?” Hearing Yukina’s god-tier deduction, Charlotte looked shocked.
“Since that guy could use spatial magic to escape from you, brother, he must be very skilled at using magic. And in your other world, aren’t men who are that proficient in magic the Mages you mentioned? Am I wrong?”
“Is that so?” Charlotte’s face lit up as if a new world had opened up to her.
But then she quickly shook her head in contradiction.
“No, I was only talking about the human race’s situation. Our world has a large population of the Demon Clan besides us humans. They are different from us humans. Men and women, young and old, can all skillfully use magic with absolutely no restrictions.”
“Eh?” Now it was Yukina’s turn to look stunned.
“It’s just that they were all isolated behind the Boundary Mountain Range until a little over a month ago when they organized a proper army and attacked. I defeated them all by myself. Maybe that man was a soldier in that war…”
Saying this, Charlotte immediately pulled up the video of the Boundary Mountain War, meticulously searching every frame of every combat unit of both sides, not even missing a single nose hair.
However, after searching frame by frame for over ten minutes, Charlotte still couldn’t find any figure of a man with short, blue hair.
The search immediately hit a wall.
“Tsk, that guy isn’t here?” Charlotte slumped onto the bed and sighed.
“Hey, brother,” Yukina, sitting next to Charlotte, asked seriously. “You’re sure the person you’re looking for is a man with short, blue hair, right?”
“Yes. Why?”
“I… I think I found him.” Yukina turned her head and stared at Charlotte with a dazed expression.
“What? Let me see!”
Hearing the news, Charlotte was overjoyed.
She quickly leaned in to look at the transparent image floating before Yukina. Sure enough, the faint outline of a man with short, blue hair was visible in the image.
“A truly unexpected discovery! Yukina, you really are my most capable sister! You found him so quickly!” Charlotte was so excited that she wrapped her arms around Yukina’s waist, intending to reward her with a sweet kiss on the cheek.
Fortunately, Yukina was faster. A hand chop destroyed Charlotte’s attempt at sneak affection.
“Alright, brother, stop messing around. Look closely. Is that really the person we’re looking for?”
“I’ve only met two people with blue hair. Can I really be wrong? Wait!”
Charlotte initially thought she had finally found the guy, but after glancing at the image again, she noticed that the figure didn’t look like a grown man. The figure was a little small, like a teenage boy.
And for some reason, Charlotte suddenly felt the figure looked strangely familiar.
“Hmm?” Charlotte stared at the back of the person for several seconds, then suddenly gasped in realization.
“No! That’s my Dad Roland!”
“What?!” Hearing Charlotte’s shriek, Yukina was bewildered.
She couldn’t believe that the person she found, the suspected mastermind, was her brother’s father in the other world, Roland.
“Brother, are you sure you’re not mistaken? How could that be your father? I remember your father’s hair wasn’t that color.”
Yukina clearly remembered that Charlotte’s father looked like Sunday, and her mother looked like Herta, both characters Charlotte loved to roleplay as in the game she used to play.
She had initially thought that her brother could freely design her parents’ appearances after reincarnating in the other world, but it seemed it was purely coincidental.
Charlotte’s parents’ appearance and personalities were vastly different from the game characters’.
“But regardless, Charlotte’s father, Roland, had light blue hair. That’s something I absolutely remember correctly.”
“I thought it wasn’t Dad Roland at first, but Mom Rhynes personally told me that my Dad Roland used to look like that, and she even showed me the story of how they first met. I had no choice but to believe her.”
“Really?” Yukina looked skeptical.
“If you don’t believe me, Yukina, then watch the whole scene from the beginning.”
