Join the ServerLed by Charlotte, Lillian finally arrived at her young master’s home in the real world.
To be honest, before this, Lillian had never visited Charlotte’s original home. Every time Charlotte returned home for vacation after passing her advancement exams at the Starsea Magic Academy, Lillian would remain alone at the Night-Glow Tower, guarding Charlotte’s base of operations.
This was the first time Charlotte had invited her to tour the small nest she shared with Lady Yukina.
Gazing at the various modern furniture pieces displayed in the living room, Lillian’s eyes inexplicably welled up with tears.
Although Charlotte’s current residence was not as luxurious or spacious as the Star-Track Tower or the Night-Glow Tower had been, even in such a small space, the layout of the simple room clearly exuded the scent of home.
Lillian could imagine the happy life Lady Charlotte and Lady Yukina led in this cozy cottage; it had been a long time since she had experienced the feeling of being accompanied by family.
“Living in such a warm and cozy home, Lady Charlotte and Lady Yukina must be very happy! This is wonderful!”
Lillian let out a sigh of relief, and the tears in her eyes rolled down her cheeks.
Seeing Lillian so emotional, Yukina leaned toward Charlotte and whispered a question.
“Has this maid of yours not been reunited with her family for a long time? Why is she suddenly so emotional?”
“Hey, that question is a bit ‘hellish,’ isn’t it? Did you forget that her clansmen were all slaughtered by the Blue Dragon Clan?”
Charlotte whispered back; she never expected Yukina to ask such a blunt question out of the blue.
“Eh? Wait, I didn’t know that! I only know she’s a loyal maid, but I have no idea how she came to follow you—I haven’t reached that part of the story yet!”
Yukina explained frantically; she had been preparing for her kendo match these past few days and had been skipping through Charlotte’s otherworld adventures. Some key plot points had been unknowingly bypassed.
“Huh? You haven’t seen the story of how I first met Lillian?”
“Of course not! When would I have had the time?”
At this point, Yukina noticed Lillian was tilting her head, looking at them whispering with confusion.
Seemingly wanting to make up for her previous slip-up, Yukina stepped forward and took Lillian’s hand.
“Lillian, starting today, this is your home too! Brother and I are both your family. If you ever feel wronged, feel free to tell us; we’ll definitely help you! If this person over here ever uses her authority to bully you, I’ll give her a good lesson for you, so don’t you worry!”
As if proving she was the true head of the household, Yukina pointed unceremoniously at Charlotte, who was essentially a freeloading dependent.
Lillian was quite moved by Yukina’s words; she wiped the tears from her eyes and nodded with a relieved expression.
“I understand, Lady Yukina!”
“Today is Lillian’s first time in our home, so we must celebrate! Allow me to personally cook a feast for you all!”
With that, Yukina headed toward the kitchen with full confidence.
Hearing that Yukina wanted to cook, Charlotte’s face immediately turned into a mask of despair, and she grabbed Yukina’s hand to stop her reckless behavior.
“Yukina, wait!”
“What is it, brother? Is something wrong?”
Yukina responded with a look of dissatisfaction; why was her brother so troublesome?
She seemed to have already grown accustomed to her brother being a girl; even with Charlotte holding her hand, she felt no discomfort, allowing Charlotte to keep holding it as if she were enjoying the sensation herself.
“Hey, Yukina, are you really planning to personally cook at a time like this?”
Charlotte tried to remind Yukina to have some self-awareness in a tone that said, “Don’t you know how bad your cooking is?”
“Of course! Are you still doubting my abilities?”
“No…” Charlotte hesitated slightly. To be honest, the dinner Yukina made last night was actually quite good, but Yukina had been in a daze then, cooking entirely by instinct.
Whenever Yukina put her heart and soul into cooking, she ended up doing more harm than good, utterly ruining the meal.
“I was just thinking, there’s no need for you to do it yourself when Lillian is here! Why not let Lillian make dinner?”
Lillian’s cooking was extremely reliable. As a gourmet who frequently enjoyed Lillian’s handmade meals, Charlotte could guarantee that Lillian’s skills were those of a five-star chef.
Rather than letting Yukina, whose level fluctuated wildly, make dinner, it was better to let the consistently excellent Lillian take over.
“She just arrived; it wouldn’t be right to make her cook! Are you saying my cooking is bad?!”
“No, I never said that!”
“You didn’t deny it, did you? You bastard…”
While Yukina and Charlotte were engaged in their daily bickering, Lillian walked over.
“Lady Yukina, let me handle the dinner! After all, I am Lady Charlotte’s exclusive maid; no one is more suited for this than me.”
“Eh? But…” Yukina wanted to continue arguing, but she was firmly pushed out of the kitchen by Lillian.
“Don’t be so formal, Lady Yukina. If you truly treat me as family, don’t waste my desire to serve you both!”
Faced with Lillian’s firm attitude, Yukina eventually accepted her offer.
“Lillian, the ingredients and seasonings are all here; feel free to go ahead!”
After telling Lillian where everything was, Charlotte sat down at the dining table with Yukina to watch Lillian’s expert performance.
Lillian had been in the real world for a month now and had already mastered the use of gas for cooking; without needing any specific introduction from Charlotte, she skillfully turned on the gas valve and began heating the oil in the pan.
“Lady Charlotte, Lady Yukina, don’t you worry. I will definitely make a dinner that will leave you full of praise! Please look forward to it!”
“Hurry up and serve it; we can’t wait!”
