Chapter 181: Is it funny that I almost fell to my death in the real world?

Suddenly hearing a sequence of crisp footsteps from nearby, Zhenhong hurriedly held her breath and ducked into a hidden corner.

A few seconds later, Lillian walked out from the staircase leading to the basement.

“Lady Charlotte is really something, leaving me here all alone again. I also want to travel to another world with Lady Charlotte!”

Lillian muttered to herself as she absently walked down the hallway and left the area.

Because Zhenhong was wearing a collar that sealed her magic, Lillian was unable to detect her presence through magic perception.

Noticing that Lillian had gone far enough away, Zhenhong breathed a sigh of relief and walked to the staircase.

“I didn’t expect there to be a basement here. Is this where I’ll be going from now on?”

An image immediately flashed through Zhenhong’s mind: herself locked in a dark, damp cell, her hands bound and hanging from the ceiling, while a white-haired witch menacingly swung a whip at her bare, white butt.

“How terrifying!” Zhenhong shivered in fear.

Despite the terrifying scenario she had just imagined, Zhenhong gathered her courage and cautiously walked down the stairs.

Perhaps there was a tool in the basement that could help her destroy the collar.

Gently pushing open the door to the basement, Zhenhong was shocked by the scene before her.

The basement was even smaller than her previous room, but in the center of this tiny space, a massive void rift was eerily manifest.

Seeing the void rift, Zhenhong immediately understood: that white-haired witch had deciphered the cross-world magic stolen from her and had opened the gate to another world, departing through it.

This cross-world magic had been passed down for a millennium, preserved perfectly by the White Dragon Yang Yan. Unfortunately, the method to use it had been completely lost. Even Yang Yan, after spending nearly a thousand years on it, couldn’t decipher it effectively. She never expected the white-haired witch to decipher it so quickly.

‘Damn it, how is that girl’s script so much better than mine! Can no one stop her?’

‘Well! I should actually thank her for deciphering the cross-world magic.’

‘Because she left this world through this gate, the magical barrier on my door lost its connection and failed.’

Although startled by the void rift, Zhenhong didn’t forget her purpose. She quickly scanned the basement, trying to find something to help her destroy the collar around her neck.

Unfortunately, the basement was empty. Aside from the void rift in the center, there were only candles mounted on the walls.

The collar clearly wasn’t a cheap item that could be burned through with candle flame. Moreover, hot wax dripping onto her skin would be painful, so she naturally wouldn’t try such a foolish method.

Unable to find a way to destroy the collar, Zhenhong’s gaze fell once again upon the void rift.

If she couldn’t destroy the collar, she couldn’t openly and rightfully escape from this witch’s headquarters. If she simply hid here, she would eventually be found by that dragon girl who had already been “broken” by the white-haired witch.

In that case, there was only one answer.

She could only go through this void rift and try her luck in another world.

Although this was a risky move—as she might run straight into the white-haired witch traveling in that other world—she had to gamble if she wanted to make a comeback as the strongest Demon King of the new century.

She would destroy the collar and regain her original power before being found by that witch.

When that time came, and she launched her counterattack, no one would be able to stop her.

“Hehehe, you short witch, just you wait. Once I regain my power, you’ll get what’s coming to you!”

The powerless Zhenhong uttered this threat and stepped unassumingly into the void rift.

Countless streams of light flashed before her eyes. Before long, her vision suddenly opened up.

It was a night sky thick with clouds.

Cold raindrops fell onto her face, and Zhenhong felt a chill.

Of course, she felt much more than that—she also felt a strange sensation of plummeting.

She seemed to be falling toward the ground from a great height.

Suddenly snapping back to reality, Zhenhong quickly looked down and was horrified to find a massive, brightly lit city below. Countless lights dotted the landscape in lines and surfaces, stretching endlessly like a grand scroll before her eyes.

Zhenhong had never seen such a prosperous city. Yet, for some reason, the brilliant sight before her felt strangely familiar, as if in the distant past, she had once been a part of this picture.

“What exactly is this…?”

But there was no time for wonder. She was falling rapidly toward this city. Due to the collar’s restraint, she couldn’t use any magic to slow her descent.

If she didn’t figure something out quickly, she would probably be smashed into a pulp the moment she arrived in this world.

But what could she do to save her own humble life?

Besides the collar the witch put on her and the small pink dress the dragon girl dressed her in, she had nothing that could serve as a parachute.

‘Damn it! Am I really going to die before my mission has even truly begun?’

Zhenhong despairingly closed her eyes, allowing the raindrops to fall on her face and mix with the tears flowing from her eyes.

However, when things seem hopeless, a path often appears. Zhenhong was lucky.

The place she fell into happened to be filled with several large bags of empty plastic bottles. With these serving as a buffer, Zhenhong barely survived, half-dead, with only half her life remaining.

However, these bottles weren’t all completely empty. Some had shattered, and the residual liquid inside had poured out, soaking Zhenhong from head to toe.

Combined with the light rain falling, the fortunately surviving Zhenhong looked like a drowned rat, dirty and soaking wet.

“Cough, cough… I seem to have… survived!”

As if wanting to prove something, Zhenhong weakly raised her right hand toward the sky and clenched her fist with all her might.

“You short witch, just you wait! I will definitely make a comeback!”

Just then, a girl with short silver hair carrying an umbrella suddenly approached Zhenhong, leaning over and staring at her with curiosity.

“Hey, are you alright?”
