Chapter 22: Is it funny to name my familiar star Wrath?

Seeing Chloe suddenly pull out a small straw doll from her dimensional space, little Charlotte next to her looked confused.

“Master, why did you suddenly pull this thing out? Are you going to put a curse on me?”

Little Charlotte severely suspected that Master Chloe might suddenly pull out a steel needle and plunge it into the straw doll, causing her to feel a gut-wrenching pain in the corresponding location.

But Chloe didn’t answer immediately.

“Little Charlotte, stretch out your hand.”

Although little Charlotte was still doubtful, she obediently extended her right hand to Chloe as instructed.

Then, her fingertip felt like it had been pricked by a needle. Little Charlotte yelped and quickly withdrew her hand. Looking down, she saw a tiny cut had inexplicably appeared on her fingertip.

“Eek! That hurt! What are you doing, Master?”

“I’m signing a contract between this straw doll and you, of course!”

“Signing a contract? Is it going to be a magical girl?”

“No, just a simple familiar.”

Chloe took a piece of special chalk from her dimensional space, drew a palm-sized magic circle on the ground, and placed the straw doll on top of it.

Finally, she dripped a drop of fresh blood extracted from little Charlotte’s fingertip onto the straw doll.

After a brief silence, the straw doll suddenly started moving, like a freshly hatched chick. After scanning its surroundings, it fixed its gaze intently on little Charlotte.

“Why does it feel like I’ve adopted a pet?”

“That’s exactly what a familiar is.”

“So, what can this little thing do?” Little Charlotte poked the straw doll with her finger.

“Little Charlotte, is there a blue cloth bag near you? There should be a banana inside. Go get it for me,” Chloe suddenly gave an unrelated instruction.

“A banana? What do you need a banana for?”

Little Charlotte turned her head and found a strange blue cloth bag at her feet. She reached her hand inside, but after fumbling for a long time, she couldn’t feel anything resembling a banana.

“Master, there’s no banana in here! Are you sure you remember correctly?”

“Oh, I probably ate it already.”

“Are you messing with me, Master?”

Little Charlotte threw the empty blue cloth bag aside, complaining angrily to Chloe.

“By the way, why don’t you look at your hand?” Chloe pointed at little Charlotte’s hand.

“My hand? What about my hand?” Little Charlotte looked down and was horrified to see a sharp bear trap clamped tightly onto her right hand, with blood profusely covering her hand.

Seeing this, little Charlotte let out a shriek.

“Ahhh— Master, you put such a large bear trap inside that cloth bag! That’s too much!”

“Little Charlotte, why are you screaming so loudly? Does getting your hand caught in a bear trap hurt that much?”

“Of course it hurts! Look, I’m bleeding! Huh? It doesn’t hurt at all.”

Little Charlotte then realized. Although her hand was caught in the bear trap, and blood was flowing everywhere, strangely, little Charlotte didn’t feel any pain, as if the bear trap didn’t exist at all.

“What is going on?”

“Why don’t you look down?”

Little Charlotte looked down and saw the straw doll rolling around on the ground, as if it were letting out a gut-wrenching scream.

Of course, little Charlotte couldn’t hear any of it.

“Does that mean… all the pain from my body has been transferred to this thing?”

“Correct answer! Little Charlotte is so smart! You figured it out so quickly.”

“Then Master, please just tell me directly next time. Stop conducting all these weird experiments just to drive the point home.”

Little Charlotte opened the clamped bear trap with her bare hands, threw it aside, and then used Holy Magic to heal her mauled fingers.

Although she couldn’t feel the pain, that didn’t mean she could just carelessly let herself be cut.

She had only just been reincarnated into a world where she could achieve any dream with magic. It wouldn’t be worth it if she accidentally died again.

“I think the occasional experimental lesson like this will help with your magic studies!”

“Then please use yourself as the experimental subject next time, Master! Since you’ve earned the title of Night Witch, a little experiment on yourself shouldn’t hurt, right?”

“I prefer you over myself!”

After little Charlotte healed the wound on her hand, the straw doll stopped rolling around on the ground. Instead, it wandered leisurely around little Charlotte’s feet, as if it was very curious about this new world.

Looking at the little creature, little Charlotte couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.

“It only absorbs my pain? This feeling of being able to dump all my garbage without any consequences… why does this thing feel like a ‘Star Wrath’?”

“Star Wrath? The star’s anger? That’s a great name! Since this little guy doesn’t have a name yet, let’s call it Star Wrath!”

“I just said that casually, Master! Don’t take it seriously!”

And so, with the contract familiar named “Star Wrath” by her side, little Charlotte’s journey in learning magic began anew.

“You named a straw doll ‘Star Wrath’? You’re really something, brother!”

Yukina couldn’t help but scoff at this point.

“I didn’t name it! I just said it casually, and Master Chloe took it seriously and actually named the thing ‘Star Wrath’!”

Charlotte looked helpless about this.

“But speaking of which, that thing was pretty useful. At least when I was learning magic, I never felt any discomfort in my body, and fighting my Master became much smoother.”

“But since you don’t have that thing with you now, it must have had a time limit, right!”

Yukina said this casually, but Charlotte suddenly revealed a look of loss.

Seeing the huge creature that suddenly appeared in the scene, Yukina frowned and looked closely. She noticed the thing was covered in straw and its eyes glowed with a terrifying, malicious light, as if it had entered a killing mode.

From its mouth, a constant stream of resentful words was heard: “It hurts… It hurts… I can’t take it anymore… I’m going to blow up on you…”

“Holy shit, isn’t that your ‘Star Wrath’? Why did it get so huge? Did the star really get angry?”
