Chapter 91: Is it moving to become a new family?

A bolt of thunder sliced through the gloomy clouds, and rain poured down.

Under the turbulent, lightning-filled sky, the petite Charlotte rode her magic broomstick, flying quickly.

Even with the cold raindrops splashing on her face, Charlotte’s determined gaze never wavered.

Not far ahead of Charlotte, a blue evil dragon was rampaging through the forest.

The blue evil dragon merely stomped its foot, and the surrounding trees were violently splintered, flying into the distance.

Clearly, this blue evil dragon was the target of Charlotte’s current commission.

Although Charlotte had fought creatures a hundred times larger than herself before, their actions were usually predictable, like low-level code.

The blue evil dragon before her was clearly much stronger than any massive creature she had encountered before.

Charlotte, who had not read up on dragon lore, naturally did not know the most effective way to defeat this thing. So, Charlotte decided to try every kind of magic she knew.

Countless ice spikes, wind blades, shattered rocks, and magic bullets rained down on the blue evil dragon.

However, the effect was minimal.

The blue evil dragon did not dodge, choosing instead to tank the hits.

The spells landed on the scales covering the dragon’s body and were rendered ineffective, as if no attack had even occurred.

After the spells hit, the blue evil dragon countered.

It let out a powerful roar, and instantly, countless chains of lightning connected into a massive net, densely crackling toward Charlotte.

Fortunately, Charlotte’s petite body gave her a very low hit-box, and she easily dodged the attack.

The intense electrical arcs only grazed past Charlotte’s ear. Even so, the sparks still burned off a single strand of her stray hair.

After avoiding the blue evil dragon’s lightning attack unscathed, Charlotte distanced herself, circling in the sky not far away, searching for an opportunity.

“Tsk, that guy’s scales are really tough! What kind of magic can actually penetrate them?”

Charlotte couldn’t help but complain.

After trying dozens of spells with no significant effect, Charlotte didn’t want to waste any more magical power on already failed spells and could only circle the blue evil dragon.

Just as she was at a loss, a girl’s shout suddenly came from the distance.

“Sister Witch!”

Charlotte turned her head and saw the girl in the brownish-green raincoat shouting loudly at her.

“That guy’s scales absorb damage from Water, Wind, and Lightning magic and convert it into his own magical power! So if you want to defeat him, don’t use those three types of magic!”

Hearing the girl reveal the secret of his invincible scales to Charlotte, the blue evil dragon roared in anger and summoned a dense barrage of lightning to strike the girl.

“Don’t speak out of turn!”

However, the lightning, just as it was about to hit the girl, was suddenly blocked by a transparent shield.

‘I see. So that’s the mechanism of that guy’s scales!’

Charlotte slowly flew over to the girl, a look of sudden realization on her face.

“No Water, no Wind, no Lightning. Does that mean that only Fire can penetrate that guy’s scales?”

Realizing this, Charlotte excitedly raised her right hand.

Instantly, a massive heat erupted from her palm, and the surrounding raindrops were evaporated into steam.

The more Charlotte thought about it, the more excited she became.

She immediately pulled out her newly learned Fire-attribute special-grade spell—Insta-Kill Flame Spear.

The blue evil dragon would not sit by and wait.

As time slowly passed, a blazing flame spear condensed in Charlotte’s palm.

“Hmph, so what if you know the weakness of my scales? With a flame this weak, watch me extinguish it with water!”

The blue evil dragon opened its mouth, let out a deafening roar, and instantly, a massive torrent of water shot out, like a water dragon.

It seemed confident that water overcoming fire was an undeniable truth.

However, the blue evil dragon miscalculated one thing Charlotte’s magical power was far stronger than it anticipated. Their magical power was no longer on the same level.

Just as the torrent of water was about to strike Charlotte, Charlotte violently hurled the flame spear in her palm toward the oncoming water.

“Flame Spear, Charge!”

Instantly, the flame spear, like a bullet, pierced through the gap in the water torrent.

The originally aggressive water dragon was instantly evaporated into dust, scattering like water spray.

“Wha…”

Before the blue evil dragon could react, the flame spear pierced straight through its entire body.

After a brief silence, a massive mushroom cloud rose up in the distance behind it.

In that instant, it was as if the world lost all its color.

The dark clouds that had gathered overhead were instantly shredded, and the surrounding rain vanished, as if the weather mode had instantly switched.

“You bastard… the Blue Dragon Clan will never forgive you…” The blue evil dragon, with a large hole blasted through its chest, uttered a final threat before its body scattered like burnt ashes and disappeared.

“The Blue Dragon Clan? Tell it about my Insta-Kill Flame Spear!”

Charlotte put her hands on her hips, proudly puffing out her non-existent chest.

Seeing Charlotte defeat the Blue Dragon Clan’s Knight Captain, who had been relentlessly pursuing her, with just one strike, the girl’s face was filled with utter astonishment.

She truly hadn’t expected the small, flat-chested, silver-haired witch before her, who looked like a child, to possess such destructive power.

Her lips parted slightly, trying to say something, but no words came out.

Instead, two streams of tears silently slid down her cheeks.

Finally, she could no longer look at Charlotte with contempt.

The hatred she felt for Charlotte was completely replaced by fear.

This was something she hadn’t dared to imagine.

‘Father… Mother… I finally…’

“What are you going to do next?”

After dealing with the blue evil dragon that had been harassing Helen Village, Charlotte walked toward the girl, ready for their final conversation.

“Sister Witch…”

“You don’t need to be so polite with me. Just call me Charlotte! By the way, what is your name? I defeated that bad guy for you. Now, shouldn’t you tell me your name?”

“Ruò Lí…That is my name.”

“Ruò Lí? That’s a lovely name! So, what are your plans now? Are you going home? Wait, your home was destroyed. Going back now would be walking into a trap.”

The girl fell silent, lowering her head, looking utterly lost. She was like a stray lamb, completely lost in the world.

“It looks like you’ll have to live in our world now. Unfortunately, I have to go back to my academy to report the completion of my commission. I won’t be able to stay here and help you build a new home.”

Realizing Charlotte was about to leave her, the girl looked up at Charlotte, her pupils trembling. It seemed she had something to say.

“Eh? What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?” Sensing the girl’s intense gaze, Charlotte looked confused.

“Sister Charlotte… can I live with you? Like family…”

“Oh? You want to come back with me?” Charlotte was greatly surprised.

“Is that not possible?”

The girl looked disappointed.

“No, that’s not what I mean. I’m happy that you want to come with me. But is that really a good idea? Our world is a complete stranger to you!” Charlotte quickly waved her hands.

“It’s alright. As long as I can live with Sister Charlotte, I’m not afraid of any hardship!” The girl’s voice became much softer as she spoke the last sentence. “Don’t leave me alone…”

Charlotte’s face filled with pleasant surprise. She hadn’t expected to gain such an unexpected bonus from a simple dragon-slaying commission: a cute little girl who could transform into a giant dragon.

“Alright, from now on, we’re family! Let’s go back together! But before that, you have to choose a new name. Your name, Ruò Lí, doesn’t sound like a name from our world.”

“Hmm, let me think…”

“Lillian… Lillian… Yes, how about this new name?”

“Lillian… That’s my new name?”

“That’s right. This is your new name. May your life be reborn with it!”

“Thank you!”

Lillian, repeatedly murmuring her new name, shed tears of gratitude.

“Oh, right. Since you’re my new family member, you should get a new set of clothes!”

Charlotte opened her dimensional space and rummaged through it, unexpectedly finding that the only decent piece of clothing she had was a black and white maid outfit with lace trimmings.

Elsa had won it in a bet and given it to her. ‘Why is this the only one left?’

Charlotte was about to put the maid outfit away, but Lillian quickly snatched it from her.

“It’s alright, Lady Charlotte. From now on, I am your exclusive maid, Lillian. I will stay by your side and accompany you, and I will never leave you no matter what happens!”

“Lady Charlotte…” Charlotte suddenly felt like a high and mighty queen.

She couldn’t help but frown.

Under Lillian’s strong request, Charlotte had no choice but to agree and hand the maid outfit over to Lillian.

“Oh, right. And this, too.”

Before leaving, Charlotte suddenly pulled out a ring inlaid with a ruby from her dimensional space and handed it to Lillian.

“Lady Charlotte, what is this?” Lillian asked, confused.

“This is a ring that seals magical power. As long as you wear this ring, others won’t be able to use magical power detection to sense your Red Dragon Clan identity, and no one will come looking for trouble. That way, you can stay by my side forever!”

“Lady Charlotte…” Lillian gazed at the ring in her hand like a promise token.

“I will wear this forever!”

****

“No matter what happens, I will guard Lady Charlotte’s side, staying with you forever!”

The vow she had made in the past echoed in her mind.

Looking at the ruby-inlaid ring on her finger, Lillian’s face was filled with melancholy.

“Lady Charlotte, where are you now?”

The sound of the kettle boiling broke Lillian’s thoughts. Lillian quickly took the kettle off the gas stove, carefully pouring the hot water into the teapot.

Indeed, this was another strange world.

To search for Lady Charlotte, Lillian had bravely stepped through the void rift left in the Star-Track Tower’s basement, arriving in this unfamiliar world.

However, she had searched for a long time in this world without finding a trace of Charlotte.

Her magical power was also nearly depleted, so she had no choice but to stay in this world for the time being.

Fortunately, there were good people in this world.

With their help, she finally found a place to stay, no longer forced to live on the streets as a disgraced noble maid.

After brewing the black tea, Lillian carried the teapot out of the kitchen and into the living room.

Several girls in school uniforms were sitting on the sofa, all looking serious, as if they were holding a very important meeting.

Lillian walked up to the black-haired girl sitting in the main seat and handed her a cup of black tea.

“Lady Yoruya, your black tea!”

“Mhm, thank you for your hard work!”

After taking a sip of the black tea, the black-haired girl showed the confident smile of a leader, looking at her companions on the sofa.

“Alright, partners! The era of our Five Element Agency has begun! Let’s make the Five Element Agency the strongest Esper organization in this world!”
