Chapter 16: Flame Spear, Charge!

A crack of thunder split the gloomy sky. Beneath the cloud layer, heavy with lightning and rain, a colossal azure evil dragon was wantonly destroying the surrounding villages.

Not far away, Charlotte, riding her broomstick, was rapidly closing in on it.

Under her control, countless bolts of lightning rained down from the heavens, striking the azure dragon’s body.

The rainwater on the azure dragon’s body was instantly vaporized into steam, yet it was completely unharmed.

Not only that, but after glaring at Charlotte, countless flashes of lightning burst forth from its body, crackling as they shot towards Charlotte.

Seeing this, Charlotte hurriedly twisted and turned, evading all the reflected lightning like someone playing a Touhou series game.

At this moment, a shout came from the ground below.

“Lady Charlotte, it’s too dangerous! Please come back quickly! That thing has an incredibly hard shell that reflects all physical attacks and all Water, Wind, and Lightning magic! You can’t break through its shell alone!”

Lillian, clad in a brown raincoat, shouted this.

However, hearing the shout, Charlotte showed no fear. Instead, she became even more composed.

“Relax! I am Charlotte Chartier, the strongest disciple of Chloe, the Night Witch, and the magical genius who is about to become the Star Witch! I can take down a mere waterspout dragon in a few moves!”

Charlotte proudly delivered her long-winded self-introduction while dodging the evil dragon’s attacks.

Lillian continued to stare at Charlotte with a worried expression, her small hands unconsciously clasped to her chest, praying that Charlotte would be safe.

“It can reflect Water, Wind, and Lightning magic? That’s a troublesome shell! But…”

At this point, Charlotte stood up on her broomstick. Like a swordsman flying on her sword, she raised her right hand, and a brilliant red spear materialized in her palm.

A fierce flame burned on the spear tip, refusing to be extinguished even by the pouring rain.

“You shouldn’t be able to reflect Fire magic! The spear tip is ignited. Flame Spear, Charge!”

Charlotte violently hurled the summoned flame spear toward the evil dragon.

The dragon, in turn, spewed a massive jet of water, shooting it toward the incoming flame spear.

The moment the flame spear and the water jet collided, a powerful shockwave swept outward.

On the surface, it looked like the water jet perfectly countered the flame spear, but unfortunately, the evil dragon was standing on the left side this time.

After a few seconds of deadlock, the flame spear pierced through the water jet, violently stabbing and passing clean through the dragon’s shell and body before burying itself into the ground below its feet.

Instantly, a violent explosion erupted. Fire and smoke shot skyward, forming a colossal mushroom cloud.

The scorching heat scattered, immediately clearing away all the dark clouds accumulated in the sky.

The scale of the scene was so massive that one might have thought a Holy Grail War was being fought here.

The evil dragon, now smoking all over, was roasted on the spot, lying motionless on the ground.

Charlotte, with only a slight smudge on the hem of her robe, flew back to Lillian.

“See? I really am strong! That thing was no match for me at all!”

Lillian’s eyes widened in astonishment, then her eyes welled up with tears. She opened her mouth, intending to express her gratitude.

However, the sound that came out was someone else’s voice.

“Brother… Brother…”

“Hmm? Lillian, what did you call me? Brother? Shouldn’t you be calling me Master? And your voice, why does it sound so much like Yukina’s?”

“Brother! Wake up! How long are you planning to sleep? The sun’s shining on your ass!” The calling voice grew louder and louder.

“??? What on earth is…”

With two gentle taps on her cheek, Charlotte slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing the familiar ceiling and Yukina’s head peering down at her, Charlotte finally realized that everything that had just happened was a dream.

“Oh, it’s Yukina! Good morning!” Charlotte said sleepily, rubbing her eyes.

“Good morning my foot! How did you even manage to sleep like this?”

“Huh?”

Charlotte looked down and saw that she was lying on the floor beside the bed, with her two white, creamy legs splayed out at a sixty-degree angle and resting on the bed.

Although the blanket was still covering her, it was too messy and hadn’t covered her lower body. Her panties were completely exposed, leaving them for Yukina’s full and detailed observation.

“How did I roll off the bed? Was it because I haven’t slept in a bed this comfortable for so long that I accidentally went overboard with pleasure?”

Charlotte sat up, rubbed her eyes, yawned, and gave a lazy stretch.

“Those things don’t matter. What’s more important is, brother, do you know what time it is?”

“What time is it?”

“It’s already ten o’clock!”

“Oh, so what?”

“Brother, did you forget that before you reincarnated, you were the one responsible for making breakfast?”

“Breakfast?”
Hearing the word, a memory hidden deep in Charlotte’s mind was reawakened. Charlotte suddenly remembered that Xinghe and Yukina were both high school students. Since their parents were working overseas, the job of taking care of Yukina had fallen entirely upon Xinghe.

If it was already ten o’clock, that meant Yukina was already late.

As for Xinghe being late, that was irrelevant, since Xinghe had completely died in yesterday’s car accident.

“Sorry, I completely forgot about that important thing and made you late, Yukina! But don’t worry, your big brother here will fly you to school right away!”

Charlotte quickly scrambled up and took out her broomstick from the dimensional space beneath her skirt, ready to grab Yukina and fly to school.

However, Yukina, still in her pink pajamas, frowned and made no move to get on the broomstick with Charlotte.

“Brother, did you forget again? Today is Saturday! Why would you take me to a school with no one there?”

“Oh? Is that so? Heehee, it’s been so long, I don’t remember.”

“Sigh!” Yukina couldn’t help but sigh. “As expected, my brother just isn’t reliable! I guess I’ll have to deal with breakfast myself.”

“Who said I’m unreliable? Yukina, I’ll make breakfast. Don’t interfere! I’ll let you witness the new skills your big brother learned in the other world!”

“Hmm?” Yukina’s gaze instantly became wary.

She had a bad feeling that the new skills from the other world wouldn’t be good for her.

“So, what kind of breakfast are you planning to make, brother?”

“Heh heh!”

Charlotte suddenly gave a sly smile, then pulled out a large slab of azure meat from the dimensional space. Azure blood was still slowly oozing from it.

“Why, it’s my specialty—charcoal-grilled dragon steak!”

Yukina stared at Charlotte with an expressionless face for two seconds, then turned and walked away without looking back.

“I’m going to buy bread!”

“Hey, Yukina, don’t go! My charcoal-grilled dragon steak is delicious! It’s not too late to try one bite before you leave!”
