X
He had been living in this mansion since he didn’t know when.
To be precise, it wasn’t really living; at most, it was merely wandering.
Because he wasn’t human.
This hard white armor was his body. He had no flesh, no internal organs. The armor could be repaired with magical power even if damaged.
To him, death was an unfamiliar word.
Unable to die, he was a monster.
Past memories had gradually faded with the long passage of time. Now, he didn’t know the reason for his existence here.
He could only rely on his most primal instinct, watching over everything in this mansion as its protector.
As for why he had to protect all this, he himself no longer remembered the reason.
He could only numbly spend each day, allowing the passage of time to erode his last vestiges of sanity.
However, even though all he remembered was that he had to protect this mansion, he still couldn’t save everyone trapped in the sudden fire.
He could only watch helplessly as the last surviving little girl of the family knelt before the ruins, weeping bitterly.
“Brother, Brother…”
Looking at the little girl, a memory suddenly flashed in his mind for some unknown reason.
It was the scene of him promising a pink-haired girl that he would protect her for life.
He seemed to exist here as a guardian only to fulfill that promise.
The girl who made the promise with him was so similar to the girl crying heartbrokenly over her brother’s death before him now.
It was then that he realized what he truly wanted to protect.
He absolutely would not allow her to show that sad expression again.
To achieve that, he would spare no effort, even if it meant sacrificing his own existence!

“Ahhhhhhhh”
Yuffie’s scream suddenly came from afar.
Hearing the sound, the white armor fiercely grabbed the red dragon’s body, slammed it heavily into the ground, and then sped quickly toward Yuffie.
In the blink of an eye, he flashed in front of Yuffie and kicked the silver-haired loli, who was trying to hurt Yuffie, twenty meters away.
Anyone who was a threat to Yuffie was an enemy.
Holding this belief, the white armor ignored the silver-haired loli’s petite cuteness and ruthlessly kicked her away.
On the other side, Charlotte, who had taken a hard kick from the white armor, was sent flying twenty meters backward before stopping.
She clutched her bleeding right hand, staring in shock at the white armor that had appeared before Yuffie.
“Why is this monster here? Wasn’t Lillian supposed to be engaging him?!”
“The fact that he’s here means Lillian is…”
Charlotte turned her head to look at the woods not far away. That was the place where Lillian and the white armor had been fighting fiercely, but now it had gone silent.
“Eek!” Charlotte’s face showed difficulty.
“Damn it! So close!”
Charlotte used Holy Magic to heal the wound on her right hand while intently watching the white armor protecting Yuffie.
“As expected of a warrior from a thousand years ago. Even after so long, their combat technique hasn’t deteriorated at all!”
“Now that this white armor has been summoned back by Yuffie, it’s clearly unrealistic for me to ignore him and go straight for Yuffie.”
“I could try to fight them both at the same time, but the ground here is covered in all those strange magic circles. It’s like a warehouse full of gunpowder, and just one spark could ignite everything.”
“Also, the white armor’s kick earlier nearly damaged the magic circuit in my right hand.”
“Any magic cast through my right hand will be affected.”
If she accidentally misfired a fireball and blasted the entire magic circle, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Clearly, this was not a good place for her to go all-out and fight.
But she also didn’t have time to recalibrate her magic circuits now.
She only had one option…
“Time to run!”
Charlotte decisively mounted her magic broomstick and turned to fly toward the distant woods.
Watching Charlotte’s fleeing figure, the white armor did not rush to pursue her.
His mission was to ensure Yuffie’s safety.
Yuffie, who had just escaped the fear inflicted by Charlotte, clenched her fist when she saw Charlotte fleeing.
“Chase her! Don’t let her interfere with my Soul-Revival Magic!”
Hearing Yuffie’s command, the white armor immediately chased after Charlotte.
After flying over the woods, Charlotte looked back and saw the white armor chasing her relentlessly, only twenty meters behind.
‘That guy followed me!’
The previous location was indeed unsuitable for a magical bombardment. But now, it was different. Even if the accuracy of her magic was terrible, she didn’t have to worry about causing irreparable damage.
Thinking this, Charlotte turned and raised her right hand toward the white armor, unapologetically unleashing a barrage of fireballs, ice spikes, wind storms, and beams of light, like an ultimate attack from a six-stage boss!
The white armor dodged, but it seemed to be stuck, unable to move out of the way.
However, despite taking the barrage of spells, the white armor’s defense did not weaken. Instead, it closed the distance with Charlotte again.
“Hey! Is that armor really that tough?” Charlotte grumbled.
Well, this was actually part of her plan.
The dense magical bombardment she had just fired was merely a smoke screen.
To penetrate the white armor’s defense, she needed a direct hit from a special-grade spell.
But the guy was too fast. To hit him, she first needed to make him stop.
Mixed in with the simple magical attacks she had just fired were a few ice bullets capable of wide-area freezing.
Charlotte lightly snapped her fingers. Instantly, the small ice crystals around the white armor expanded, coalescing into a giant ice crystal that froze the white armor on the spot.
This was the same move Mom Rhynes used to deal with Master Chloe. Even a powerful witch like Master Chloe couldn’t react fast enough to it.
Seeing the white armor finally trapped, Charlotte immediately raised her right hand and aimed a Crimson Judgment Bullet at it.
The Crimson Judgment Bullet was Mashiro’s signature move, yet Charlotte was using it even more frequently than Mashiro.
The power of the Crimson Judgment Bullet should be more than enough to pierce the white armor’s body.
But Charlotte forgot one thing the magic circuit in her right hand hadn’t been recalibrated yet.
Instantly, the Crimson Judgment Bullet flew past the white armor’s ear, shooting into the distance and forming a massive mushroom cloud in the night sky.
