“Miss Charlotte, you’re back!”
Before she could even walk into the Night-Glow Tower, the golden-haired maid inside seemed to sense her presence and opened the door to welcome her.
“Mhm, Lillian, I’m back!”
Charlotte replied simply.
Seeing Charlotte, Lillian paused slightly, raising a finger to point at the pink-haired girl currently being carried on Charlotte’s back.
“Lady Charlotte, who is this girl?”
“Oh, I happened to pick her up on the street.”
“Happened to pick her up?” Lillian was slightly surprised.
“It’s a long story. Instructor Mashiro just gave me a commission to investigate the recent incidents in the student dormitory where magical power is being stolen. I suspect this child is one of the victims.”
Charlotte gave a brief explanation while walking into the Night-Glow Tower. She placed the unconscious Yuffie onto a soft little bed, then opened a dimensional space to retrieve Yuffie’s magic books. Two of the books, being too heavy, scattered and fell at Charlotte’s feet.
Lillian came over to help tidy them up.
“I see. In that case, you can rest assured and leave this girl in my care.”
“Mhm, I’m counting on you!”
Charlotte waved her hand lightly and then walked toward the room’s exit.
“Eh? Lady Charlotte, are you going out again?”
“Yes. To investigate the incident at the student dormitory, I’ll be sleeping in the student dormitory in this girl’s place tonight!”
After saying this, Charlotte walked out of the Night-Glow Tower with a look of confidence.
Just as she stepped out of the front door, she noticed a new letter in the mailbox.
She casually took it out and opened it, finding it was a letter from Instructor Chloe.
After a year, Master Chloe had finally sent her a letter again.
Judging by the content of the letter, Master Chloe seemed to know everything that was happening to her, even knowing that she was secretly keeping three little blonde maids. Could she have installed a surveillance system in the Night-Glow Tower?
Master Chloe was currently traveling in a secluded forest filled with “Inspiration Mushrooms.” Since Master Chloe loved mushroom soup, she immediately made a pot and was now completely inspired, feeling mushy, mushy, mushy, mushy all over.
‘I really envy Master Chloe for having so many fun and interesting adventures!’
‘When will I become the Star Witch and embark on a journey full of unknowns, just like my Master?’
After reading the letter, Charlotte casually tucked it into her dimensional space and looked at the massive student dormitory building before her.
“A white armored figure appearing at night? I’m coming to unveil your mysterious facade!”
Charlotte gave a confident smile, but just as she was about to move forward, she suddenly realized she had forgotten the most important thing.
“Crap, I forgot to ask which floor and room number Yuffie’s room is!”
Fortunately, the dormitories here had a custom of writing the residents’ names on the doors. After wandering around the dormitory for a long time, Charlotte finally found the room with Yuffie’s name on it.
The person she shared a room with was a girl named Sophia.
Because Charlotte had already used Shielding Magic to substitute her own presence for Yuffie’s, the roommate didn’t notice anything strange about her when she entered the room.
However, the roommate quickly sensed that something was amiss.
“Yuffie, why are you speaking with a burp?”
Thanks to Yuffie’s annoying verbal tic, Charlotte was almost exposed by this quick-witted roommate.
Fortunately, Charlotte managed to get by in the end.
As the night deepened, all the students in the dormitory started to fall asleep.
Even her roommate was no exception, snoring loudly on the bed while mumbling in her sleep, “I can’t eat any more.”
Charlotte, lying on the bed, fell into contemplation. It had been a long time since she had slept in a dormitory bed. She actually missed it.
The bed was soft, the quilt was warm, and the surroundings were quiet.
Charlotte quickly forgot the purpose of her trip and was gently coaxed into sleep by the comfortable bed.
However, a faint creaking sound of metal armor slowly moving in the corridor suddenly startled Charlotte awake from her sleep.
‘It’s here!’
Charlotte’s mind instantly sharpened. She jumped out of bed, quietly walked to the room door, pulled it open just a crack, and peeked out into the corridor.
Sure enough, a figure in full white armor was walking down the corridor not far away, bathed in moonlight.
It wandered the corridor for a long time. As if it had found a target it could attack, it stopped outside a room and raised its arm, preparing to do something evil.
Seeing this, Charlotte decisively rushed out of the room and fired two magic bullets.
One struck the white armor’s arm, preventing it from using magic on the room in front of it. The other accurately shattered the white mask covering its face.
“Hmph, let me see who this ghost in disguise is!”
However, unexpectedly, the space beneath the mask was empty, as if an invisible soul was driving the white armor.
“Huh?” Charlotte was stunned. She hadn’t expected that the person wandering around the student dormitory in white armor wasn’t human at all.
‘What on earth is it? A familiar?’
Realizing its mask was shattered, the creature immediately went berserk. Instantly, countless black tentacles, materialized from magical power, surged out from its body and sped toward Charlotte.
Charlotte was unperturbed. She instantly summoned a transparent wall in front of her, blocking the attack of the black tentacles.
She had secretly learned this move from Instructor Mashiro.
It seemed to be a special-grade barrier spell called Void Wall, which could reflect all magic below the advanced level. Depending on the caster’s strength, it even had a chance to reflect special-grade magic.
It had to be said that secretly learned magic was incredibly useful.
She had learned the special-grade spell “Crimson Judgment Bullet” that Sister Shiro used on her just by watching it once.
“Hmph, if you’re not going to cooperate, then I won’t hold back!”
Charlotte waved her hand, and a beam of light suddenly shot out from in front of her, instantly blasting the white armored figure to pieces, completely disintegrating it.
“Alright, this commission is successfully resolved.” After finally getting rid of the creature, Charlotte lightly clapped her hands, preparing to leave.
But just then, she noticed a large hole in the wall at the end of the corridor. It looked as if someone had blasted it out with a cannon.
“Wow! Who the hell is so unethical? How could they damage the dormitory wall like that?” Charlotte complained, frowning. She then used Repair Magic to fill the hole with the scattered stone fragments.
