The crisp alarm clock kept ringing on the bedside table.
Hearing the noisy alarm, Yukina slowly opened her hazy eyes.
The sunlight coming through the window illuminated the entire room. Noticing this, Yukina gently rubbed her eyes and yawned, trying to wake up her sleeping soul.
“Hmm? Is it morning already?”
For some reason, Yukina’s soul felt unusually heavy today.
After just one yawn, her ability to think malfunctioned again.
Sleepiness swept over her brain, and she sat there with her head slumped, staring blankly into space indefinitely.
After an unknown amount of time staring into space with her eyes open, Yukina suddenly noticed that the alarm sound she heard wasn’t coming from the alarm clock in her room.
“Eh?”
Noticing the anomaly, Yukina quickly scanned her surroundings. She was startled to find that the room she was in was her brother’s room.
She wasn’t even lying on the bed. She was sitting on the carpet, leaning against the bed, having fallen asleep there.
Last night, she had voluntarily helped her brother search for the trace of the azure-haired man, but she had fallen asleep without realizing it.
Recalling what happened last night, Yukina felt a headache coming on.
“Crap, I must have stayed up too late. My brain is still foggy! By the way, where is my brother?”
Yukina looked toward the bed and was surprised to find that it was empty. The small, soft witch who was so easy to bully was not sleeping in her comfortable bed.
“Hmm?” Yukina thought she was still half-asleep and rubbed her eyes, looking again. The scene hadn’t changed. Charlotte wasn’t on her bed, and even the blanket on the bed was gone.
However, when Yukina’s gaze fell back onto herself, she noticed that the blanket that should have been on the bed was now neatly covering her.
“Ngh…” Yukina fell silent for a moment, then let out a relieved expression. “That must have been my brother’s doing. He saw me sleeping and covered me with his blanket. Speaking of which, if my brother isn’t in the room, where is she now? Did she sneak out on that tacky broomstick while I was asleep?”
While Yukina was muttering to herself, her gaze landed on the blanket covering her.
For some reason, a large lump was bulging out on her stomach, as if she were ten months pregnant.
“Eh?” Incredulous, Yukina yanked the blanket off and was horrified to find that her clumsy, cute brother was lying on her, snoring loudly, fast asleep. Saliva was even dribbling from the corner of her mouth onto Yukina’s stomach.
Even in the middle of a sweet dream, Charlotte’s hands and feet were not still. Right in front of Yukina, she was kneading Yukina’s smooth, pale, and elastic thigh. “She was muttering something incoherent in her sleep.”
“Hehe, such elastic thigh meat! It must be very tasty to eat! Well, don’t mind if I do!”
Charlotte licked Yukina’s thigh, then opened her maw and violently bit down.
But Yukina was quicker. She slammed a hand chop down hard on the back of Charlotte’s head, knocking her into the closet nearby, leaving only her two white-socked legs sticking out, trembling non-stop.
“Honestly, is my brother’s hands and feet still so naughty even when she’s asleep?” Yukina gently shook her stinging right hand, complaining with a look of utter disgust about her disappointing brother.
Even after living an extra fifteen years in another world, was this brother still going to be this much trouble?
“Yukina, even if your big brother accidentally fell asleep on you, you didn’t have to hit me so hard!”
On the way to school, Charlotte complained, clutching the back of her head.
Thanks to the hand chop that could pierce stars, Charlotte’s head was throbbing faintly, as if a strange lump had grown on the back of her head.
Yukina, with her backpack slung over her shoulder, yawned and shot Charlotte a look of disdain.
“That’s because you stayed up so late playing games last night! If you had gone to bed earlier, you wouldn’t have sleepwalked onto me!”
Last night, Yukina had helped Charlotte search for the azure-haired man’s clue.
She had fallen asleep sometime after the first scene of Charlotte’s parents’ love story. She didn’t remember anything about Rhynes and Roland’s second encounter.
All she knew was that in that chapter, the two of them had to fight a skeletal dragon that looked like a Zombie Greymon.
Thanks to their desperate fight, she had a very uncomfortable dream.
“No, I remember clearly! I was sleeping right next to you, Yukina, and then I silently crawled onto you…”
“So you were awake before you fell asleep?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you wake me up? Is sleeping next to your sister a glorious thing to do?”
Yukina chided Charlotte, pinching her cheek.
If this brother had just woken her up, she wouldn’t have slept on the floor until morning.
“That’s because you were sleeping so soundly, Yukina! I didn’t have the heart to interrupt your sweet dream!” Charlotte quickly explained. “Yukina, we’re outside now! Can you stop pinching me in front of so many people?”
“Then stop doing things that annoy me!”
Saying this, Yukina let go of Charlotte’s cheek in a fit of pique, then muttered softly.
‘It’s all my brother’s fault for staying up so late. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had to leave the house hungry.’
Although Yukina woke up when the alarm went off, it was Charlotte’s alarm, which was half an hour later than her own.
This meant she woke up at 7:30 AM. It was impossible to get dressed, wash up, make breakfast, eat breakfast, pack her bag, and walk to school in that short half hour.
Yukina had no choice. After forcefully waking up her groggy brother, they quickly tidied up and left the house, heading toward the school.
Fortunately, their house wasn’t too far from the school, only a fifteen-minute walk.
Skipping the breakfast-making and eating steps made the rest of the tasks manageable.
Of course, Yukina had no intention of letting her stomach go hungry all morning.
According to her schedule, they should still have five minutes left when they arrived at school. It should be enough time to go to the school’s small convenience store, buy a small bread roll, and quell the hunger in her stomach.
But speaking of which…
Yukina stared at the silver-haired little witch walking beside her.
Although Charlotte was wearing the same school uniform as her, she lacked the most important essential for going to school: a school bag.
Come to think of it, Charlotte hadn’t brought a school bag yesterday either. Strangely, neither the teachers nor the students had noticed this.
Was it because everyone’s attention was completely captivated by Charlotte’s perfect appearance?
‘Is it really allowed in the real world to go through a whole day of school without carrying a school bag and not get scolded?’
