Chapter 106: The strange photo.

“Yes, yes, ha ha ha ha…” Zhong Shuixi followed Charlotte’s awkward laughter with a rigid expression.

“You two are so strange…” Although Huangquan Ai was confused, she couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.

So she changed the subject.

“Forget it. By the way, I took an interesting photo a few days ago. Do you want to see it?”

Saying this, Huangquan Ai took out her phone, fiddled with it for a moment, and showed it to Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte.

“Hmm?”

At first, they were only slightly confused and didn’t realize the gravity of the situation.

But then they realized that what Huangquan Ai was showing them was two white human figures riding brooms and flying in the night sky.

Because the distance was too great, the specific appearances of the two figures were indiscernible. They could only vaguely tell that both figures had silver hair. The one in front had long silver hair, and the one behind had short silver hair. They looked like a pair of twins.

“This is…” Zhong Shuixi, who knew nothing of the little side trip Charlotte and Yukina had taken when Charlotte first came to the real world, asked in confusion.

Charlotte, however, looked instantly alert, as if a keyword had been triggered.

No one knew better than her who the two people in that photo were.

Without a doubt, the people in the photo were Charlotte and Yukina.

When she first arrived in the real world, she took the skeptical Yukina flying through the night sky to prove she was a witch. Of course, Yukina never joined her again to enjoy the pleasure of free flight afterward.

‘So that’s it! This is the photo Yukina wanted me to deal with, the one that could destroy her ordinary daily life!’

“I took this a few nights ago. What do you think? Isn’t it amazing? Someone is flying in the sky! And don’t you think these two look a lot like Charlotte and Yukina?”

Saying this, Huangquan Ai stared maliciously at Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte.

“You’re saying there’s such a coincidence in this world? Could it really be you two? How did you fly in the sky? Is that broomstick some kind of high-tech device?”

“Wait, wait, wait a minute,” Zhong Shuixi hurriedly interrupted Huangquan Ai’s questioning.

“Little Ai, don’t you think this is strange? How can a human fly into the sky out of nowhere? There are no superpowers or magic in this world. No matter what, those two couldn’t fly that high, could they?”

If Huangquan Ai continued to ask questions, Charlotte wouldn’t be able to explain it alone, so Zhong Shuixi covered for Charlotte.

“But how do you explain this photo? I can’t just lie and say I photoshopped it. I wouldn’t do something that boring!” Huangquan Ai clearly wasn’t convinced by Zhong Shuixi’s explanation.

“That must be a mirage! Although you saw them in the night sky, they must have been standing firmly on the ground. We talked about this in class, didn’t we, Little Ai? Didn’t you listen in class?”

“Huh? Is that so?” Huangquan Ai looked bewildered by Zhong Shuixi’s baffling explanation.

“Yes, yes, that’s right! I don’t remember Yukina and I ever flying around like magical girls!” Charlotte quickly agreed.

Under the joint defense of Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte, Huangquan Ai had to back down and abandon her idea of getting to the bottom of the matter.

“If that’s the case, that’s a real shame!” Huangquan Ai still seemed to hold strange expectations for Charlotte.

“What’s so shameful about it? No matter what, humans can’t fly into the sky out of nowhere, can they?” Charlotte emphasized this point, as if to prove she was just a very ordinary human girl.

As Huangquan Ai walked dejectedly toward the classroom, Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.

That was truly dangerous.

If Zhong Shuixi hadn’t been here to cover for her, even Charlotte’s lies wouldn’t have been convincing, and Yukina would have been troubled by the evidence.

‘This truly is an unfree world!’

As the two of them relaxed, Yukina walked up the stairs, carrying a bag of bread rolls.

Seeing the two of them standing at the stairwell like wooden stakes, Yukina couldn’t help but wonder.

“Eh? What are you two doing here? Are you waiting for me?”

“Yukina!” Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte were both startled to see Yukina suddenly appear behind them. Their reaction only made Yukina more confused.

“Am I some kind of Arch-Demon that spreads fear? Why do you both look like you’ve seen your natural enemy?” Yukina frowned slightly, showing displeasure.

“No, it’s not like that. We were just…” Zhong Shuixi and Charlotte exchanged a look, then Zhong Shuixi quickly summarized the photo incident with Huangquan Ai for Yukina.

Since class was about to start, there wasn’t time for Zhong Shuixi to give a detailed, word-for-word account. Zhong Shuixi only focused on the key points for Yukina.

Hearing Zhong Shuixi’s answer, Yukina’s expression became solemn.

She then turned and glared fiercely at her unreliable brother.

If Charlotte hadn’t forced her to fly on the broomstick through the night sky a few days ago, this situation wouldn’t have happened.

Yukina’s glare made Charlotte nervous. Charlotte immediately tried to justify herself.

“But it’s a good thing Xiaoxi covered for me. Little Ai didn’t become suspicious, so you can relax, Yukina!”

“It would be great if you could actually make me relax, brother! You constantly cause me trouble! I really want to buy an iron cage online and lock you in the house!”

Yukina sighed softly, then turned her attention to her friend, Zhong Shuixi.

“Thank you, Xiaoxi. If it weren’t for you, my brother would have caused huge trouble.”

“Yukina, don’t be so formal. Aren’t we best friends? It’s only natural for friends to help each other!” Zhong Shuixi replied.

After thanking Zhong Shuixi, Yukina turned and pinned Charlotte against the wall again, whispering to her so Zhong Shuixi couldn’t hear.

“Hey, brother, didn’t you promise me yesterday you’d delete Little Ai’s memory? Why does she still remember it?”

“That’s because… for some reason, my magic is completely ineffective against her! It’s like she has an Imagine Breaker.”

“Huh? Your magic is ineffective, brother? How is that possible? Is there something wrong with you? Did you overuse magic in this world until you ran out of power, so you can’t cast spells anymore?”

“Eh? You understand that, Yukina? How do you know that lacking magical power prevents one from casting spells?”

“Stop that nonsense!”

“In any case, Yukina,” Zhong Shuixi called out softly from behind them, “class is starting. Let’s hurry back to the classroom, or we’ll be late.”

“In any case, brother, you need to figure out a way to completely resolve this matter. I don’t want my peaceful high school life to be completely overturned.”

She said she didn’t want it to change, but in reality, her life had already undergone a huge change. The existence of the other world and magic was subtly changing Yukina’s worldview.

After assigning the main quest to Charlotte, Yukina released her, pulled Charlotte along, and walked into the classroom with Zhong Shuixi just as the bell rang for the final second.
