Chapter 208: The family of three all have white hair.

Realizing that her mother, Ten’i, would be home any second, Yukina knew that if she saw her now small, cute, witch brother, it would be impossible to explain.

Acting quickly, Yukina ran over to Charlotte, effortlessly lifted her up like a cat grabbing a mouse, and tried to shove her into the nearby wardrobe.

Although the wardrobe was filled with Yukina’s recently purchased skirts and dresses, there was still plenty of room to squeeze in her tiny brother.

However, Yukina’s action was met with strong resistance from Charlotte.

“Wait, Yukina, what are you doing lifting me up so suddenly?”

Charlotte tried to break free from Yukina’s grasp, but Yukina was dead serious, her face solemn as she tightly gripped the back of Charlotte’s collar. It was clear the situation had reached a critical point and was no longer a joking matter.

“There’s no time to explain, brother! Hide in the wardrobe quickly, or it will be too late!”

“Hide in the wardrobe? What am I, your secret mistress? I don’t want to hide in the damp wardrobe!”

Charlotte held tightly onto the wardrobe handle, engaging in a stubborn tug-of-war with Yukina.

“Stop messing around, brother! Hurry up and hide! Mom will be back any second!”

“Eh? Mom is coming back?” Hearing Yukina’s words, Charlotte looked stunned.

However, before she could react further, the crisp sound of a key being inserted into the lock came from the front door.

Hearing that sound, Yukina felt her heart leap into her throat.

But the expected sound of the door opening did not follow. The key turned twice and then jammed. Realizing the key couldn’t open the door, a confused voice came from outside.

“Huh?”

It was then that Yukina suddenly remembered she had changed the door lock earlier today.

Because she had lost her keys during the fight with Yoruya yesterday, she had immediately contacted a locksmith to replace the lock cylinder after coming home today.

She had to admit, changing the lock had saved her life. If her mother had just barged in and seen her trying to hide her witch brother, she would never have been able to explain herself.

But the changed lock could only buy her a little time.

Soon, clear knocks echoed from the door.

“Little Yukina, your good mother has returned! Open the door and welcome Mommy!”

“Eek!” Realizing she had precious little time left, Yukina decided to go all out. Taking advantage of Charlotte’s dazed state, she kicked her into the wardrobe.

But Charlotte wasn’t the only one who needed to hide.

After kicking Charlotte into the wardrobe, Yukina turned around, her face twisted in a ferocious expression as she glared at Lillian, who was still trying to grasp the situation.

How many steps does it take to stuff a giant dragon into a wardrobe?

Given the wardrobe’s current space, squeezing Charlotte in was already a tight fit. Trying to squeeze Lillian in as well would probably burst the wardrobe open. After all, although Lillian was currently in human form, she was quite voluptuous; she could easily crush Charlotte simply by sitting on her.

But there was no other good place to hide right now.

Thinking this, Yukina marched aggressively toward Lillian.

Lillian looked alarmed.

“Eh? Lady Yukina, do I have to hide in there too?”

“I’m sorry, Master Lillian! It’s an emergency, just bear with it for a moment!”

Yukina firmly grabbed Lillian’s shoulders and shoved her into the wardrobe as well. Ignoring whatever awkward position Lillian and Charlotte ended up in, she shut the wardrobe doors. After confirming it looked fine from the outside, Yukina jogged to the front door and opened it.

“Mom, I’m coming!”

The moment she opened the door, a well-endowed, bespectacled young woman with long silver hair suddenly lunged forward with a handbag, tightly hugging the unprepared Yukina.

“Yukina, my dear Yukina, Mom missed you to death! Let me smell if Yukina smells nice today!”

Hearing the commotion at the door, Charlotte, who had managed to adjust herself into a somewhat comfortable position inside the wardrobe, peered out curiously through a crack in the doors.

The “Mom” Yukina had mentioned must refer to Bai Shen Ten’i, the mother of her past life as Bai Shenxinghe.

To be honest, when Yukina first mentioned it, for a fleeting moment, she wondered, ‘Did Mom Rhynes come to this world too?’

Then she realized Yukina was talking about Mom Ten’i.

It was understandable that she didn’t think of this mother first. After all, she hadn’t seen her in fifteen—no, strictly speaking, sixteen—years. A full sixteen years had passed since she last saw her.

Not having seen Mom Ten’i for so long, she wondered how she was doing now.

However, upon seeing the figure of the silver-haired, bespectacled young woman hugging Yukina at the door, Charlotte was slightly taken aback.

‘Wait a minute, who is this white-haired lady?’

Even if she had grown distant from Mom Ten’i, she shouldn’t have absolutely no impression of her.

But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t connect this silver-haired, bespectacled lady with Mom Ten’i.

Lillian, who was pressing down on Charlotte, also saw the scene outside through the crack.

“Lady Charlotte, is she the mother of this world you mentioned?”

“Hmm… No, I’m not entirely sure either. The mother in my memory shouldn’t have such beautiful long silver hair.”

Charlotte remembered clearly that Bai Shen Ten’i, true to her name, had long dark-blue hair, like an angel descending from heaven.

Although her current silver hair made her look even more like a holy angel, something felt off.

Yukina, tightly embraced by this silver-haired, bespectacled lady, also noticed this discrepancy.

However, without a doubt, the lady holding her tightly—in both appearance and voice—perfectly matched the Mom Ten’i she knew, except for her long silver hair. The long silver hair inevitably reminded Yukina of Charlotte, whom she had just stuffed into the wardrobe.

“Mom… you are Mom, right?” Yukina asked in astonishment, trying to confirm once more.

“Little Yukina, why are you reacting like this? Have you forgotten Mom already?”

The silver-haired lady tilted her head, frowning in confusion.

“How could I ever forget Mom? I’m just surprised; how did your hair turn this color?”

“Hehe,” Ten’i smiled proudly upon hearing this, gently tossing her smooth silver hair with her right hand. “What do you think? Mom’s new dyed hair looks great, doesn’t it! I dyed it this color specially for Little Yukina, so when we stand together, outsiders will think we’re sisters.”

“Eh? That’s quite a clever idea, Mom!”

Although Yukina wore a smile on the outside, she was secretly complaining inwardly.

‘Of all the colors to dye it, she had to choose white. Now all three of us in this family are white-haired.’
